A lot of the bad behavior is coming from folks older than me and I'm not exactly young.
I sat row 1 behind the dugout at Arkansas a few years ago, so I know what you are talking about. It was even more awkward in my case because I was sitting next to the parents of one of the dancing girls (although she did not dance that day due to injury). I'm not disputing that it's awkward.Aggieangler93 said:
The dancing girls issue is entirely different when you are sitting on row 1, than anywhere else in the stadium. If you glance up at them, you are basically looking up their skirt. If you look away the whole time, that seems rude too. I am OK with them being at Olsen. I just wish they danced on the field instead of on top of the dugouts. I have sat in row 1 a handful of times in the last year within a few seats of prop guy as my friend with season tickets helps me out from time to time. Props is not a bad guy and he normally keeps it light. The opposing players usually get an earful, and by the end of a series, they usually joke back in most cases.
But as a father of a college aged girl, I can tell you that when I last sat there, the dancing girls made me uncomfortable also due to the proximity of their butts directly above my eye level. And I am not a guy that is usually uncomfortable with cheerleaders, dancers, or any of that. From row 1, it just seems sleazy. If you haven't sat in row 1 lower deck, I am sure you see things differently (so to speak)! Being within 4 feet, directly below, is a very unique perspective.
As for any of our fans hollering at our players in a negative manner, I am not in favor of that by any means. People get hot-headed and forget that these are kids trying their hardest. Those people need to calm down or focus all their hate on the umpires, who usually deserve it in spades. LOL
Exactly Tom. I wasn't at Olsen but I'm thinking this bit by Prop Guy is harkening way back in the day when the whole Student Section would hold up The Battalion in front of their faces and rattle the pages during the starter introductions of the opposing team at basketball games. If he was simply quietly reading a paper, looking at his phone or chose that moment to stretch his legs with a short stroll that Schloss would have noticed? Prop guy is seemingly going out of his way to show his dislike of the dance team and showing them up as he did last season when he chose to wear a paper sack during one of their routines. Maybe Schoss shouldn't call fans out on such things but better yet maybe we as fans should carry ourselves in such a manner in which there wasn't a reason to do so.twk said:If you think it's just happenstance that Prop Guy has a newspaper to brandish during the dance routine, I've got some ocean front property in Arizona that you might be interested in.etchasketch said:
I agree with some of the posters on here and the premium board that the prop guy is in a tough spot. He doesn't want to watch the girls shake their stuff from below because it can five 'creepy old man' vibes, so he reads a newspaper. Could he look at his phone? Probably. But then does he get called out for looking at his phone? Maybe. Maybe the newspaper is a generational thing. I don't know. Does he get up and leave every time they come out? He could, but then he would be called out for leaving. He's going to be considered rude every time. At least he isn't yelling profanities at them. Maybe he should wave dollar bills. Would anyone be ok with that? I'm sure worse has happened at other places.
I am of the mind the dancers don't belong at Olsen. I don't know if the comment that they're at Olsen because Schloss' daughter danced at TCU is accurate, but I know TCU had dancers. I do feel like the dancers are a hill Schloss has chosen to die on, and he will be offended regardless of what anyone does or says about it.
If proximity is that big of a problem, he can change seats.
That's what I don't get. I know it's not your specialty, but you're a doctor. Can you explain how people who are constantly posting negative comments towards our players and coaches benefiting themselves?Quote:
Yet the same people continue to do the same crap because of their selfishness. Who does it benefit except them?

BRILLIANT!!! Literally!!!Bernie13 said:
This from a former player, if you can't get behind what Schloss is doing for this program, then you need to just go away. I don't care if he wants us all to light farts after homeruns, I'm in.

They look pretty dang uncomfortable trying to dance to "Deep In the Heart of Texas" and, trying to remember the other song from Sunday, but something equally as far-removed from anything they've ever danced to at Reed or anywhere else.
It's forced and awkward and I don't think the fans or the dancers are getting much enjoyment out of it as a whole.
More forced than the milkmen??? I think not…DTP02 said:trouble said:

My wife complains about the dancers at Reed but I took her to the game on Sunday and she just said she felt sorry for them.

The song choices aren't great but they aren't uncomfortable because they are "strip club" distance from the fans.

You are a savant.
Some people will gripe if they win the lottery.

It's important that we put tip buckets on the dugouts if it's strip club material…Sea Pony 07 said:trouble said:

I guess some people have never been to a strip club or seen one on TV.

Would that be an NCAA violation?

And it's not at all like a strip club
Revising and extending my comments: my freshman year I went to summer school and money was tight and ended up putting my heart on my sleeve about that with my scholarship sponsor (Frank L. I knew someone would take this out of context.
It's not the girls themselves, it's where they're placed.
