I'm class of '90. Seems like back in the 80's the milkmen showed up for a game and led yells. That was God awful and out of place. I like the ladies at Olsen. We need them in the end zones at Kyle. If my old ass can open my mind others can try as well.

I went to the UT BB game last week. Some much older Ag had the audacity to ask me if I knew anyone who handles the in-game entertainment. They needed to complain. This older Ag could not stand the music at time outs. They wanted yell leaders only and no music. I kindly said the music is here to keep the energy alive and it's about the kids…not us. Jeez.

Hell, I want music in-game during basketball.

What happened? He seemed freaked out. Swaying side to side. Talking with shake voice. Half if ot has to be the team and the way they are playing. Understandable. But I keep reading the other part is the dance team and a newspaper? He said it was fans yelling at players. What's with the dance team? I definitely think it's mostly because of team. Just before season started, he was extremely confident. More than I thought he needed to be. Just because how hard it's going to be to match what they did last year.

I think there's more going on than dancers and hopefully, only a few fans. Anyone at game that can verify how bad ( and how many) fans were to the team?

What's most unfortunate about this is that it was such an outstanding day. The fan support and the way the game ended was exceptional.

I find it troubling that one bad apple managed to spoil it that much.

I would imagine that ass hat is a very unpleasant person to be around all the time.

That said, really don't think the entire fan base needed to be publicly addressed. I would bet 99% of the fans there (myself included) had NO idea that any of this even happened.

Another troll account. Go back to the horn boards. Don't still be mad that we knocked your team out of the CWS. Stop trying to drum up trouble here. See you in a few weeks.

There have been cranky old people sitting behind the 3B dugout for as long as I've watched baseball at Olsen. Good luck with this battle, Schloss.
you know, there's some, a very tiny minority mind you, of Ags I would not mind no longer having at sporting events. Reminds me of a woman in the 90s that held up a newspaper when the dance team would perform at basketball games. The dance team was new and she was "protesting". She just looked like an idiot and all of us students were laughing at her. Seems we have another one unless Schloss was referring to the guy from last season. And to whoever the POS was that was yelling at our players, **** OFF! I am sure they talk a good game. Would love to see one of our guys knock their obnoxious ass out.

so it's not surprising that someone crossed the line from tolerant annoyance to making a show of ignoring them.
It should be surprising for anyone, but especially for Aggies. We're supposed to and should be above that crap.

Quote:

It's a bit over the line and the fan should just ignore it, but he's not throwing rotten fruit at them or booing so it's a little petty on the part of Schloss to call it out in a postgame presser.
No it's not. It's crap and it should be called about by Schloss and anyone else in the vicinity.

I'm not disappointed coach called that jack**** fan out. If he tries to do it via back channels it may or may not happen again.

Since this fan has been publicly shamed, no way it is happening again.

This is upsetting. I expect to hear things like this about fans from other schools…not ours. I would never and have never thought to tell at one of our players or one of our coaches. I would never disrespect students supporting our school and team. I think that is the same sentiment that the vast majority has.

I was at the game, 1st deck behind home, and I didn't hear anything other than support for our team (with the exception of a few words for the ump). If I did, I would have spoken up.

I understand Coach's frustration and that he was standing up for our team, and I really do hope it shuts that fan down, but to say we are all disloyal…despite a 3 game losing streak, there was a full ballpark today of Aggies who wanted to see our team win.

This is getting absurd. Buying a ticket gives you a right to yell at the players for either team (no racism, profanity, etc). Yelling at your own players might make you a bad Ag, but it isn't grounds for removal from the park.
W

yes, that's the point.

it's silly to try to regulate what fans -- home or visitor -- yell at players.

especially when the stadium sells beverages that could, um, whoops, not supposed to go there

This isn't new. There was a group of guys on the 3rd base side that would get after our team and coaches during the Childress era too. We had a former player post here that the worst heckling he ever experienced wasn't on the road, and that it came from that group above our own dugout.

My basketball tickets used to be next to some guy that would rant and rave and try and get the entire section to walk out in protest with him when we were losing games.

Some people are just negative. I thought the kinds of posts we had during the Childress era would diminish significantly after a hire like Schlossnagle, especially after the data point we have to look at in the 2022 season. Instead, all it took was 2 losses to Portland to bring out the same crowd.

I hear you Lance, and I always respect you. You do SO much on these forums. I agree, one fan behaving like this is too much. 50 would seem outrageous, but to be fair, 50 out of the entire attendance numbers (not to mention those watching at home) is such a small percentage. I agree, even 1 is ridiculous, but the idiot to good fan ratio is GREATLY proportional to the good guys. It's unfortunate the bad apples receive the attention and are considered representative of the majority

If there were any Aggies yelling at our players, during the game today, that is unacceptable. But it is equally disappointing for Schloss to extrapolate the behavior of a few bad fans to the behavior of the entire Aggie fan base. I have been a strong supporter of Coach Schloss, and I'm sure that Schloss was just emotional after the game, but I think he owes the fans an apology for his postgame comments:
" I don't know what kind of place this is, but I thought there was some kind of Aggie loyalty around here."

I can understand calling out fan(s) that may be heckling or saying negative things to our players, but I don't like the statement above. Maybe it was said out of emotion, and if so, I believe he should issue some sort of apology. The fans were loyal enough to pack Blue Bell with 6400 fans, despite losing 3 straight home games to Lamar and Portland. And most of which hung around and made a tremendous amount of noise in the bottom of the 9th. I'd consider that pretty loyal.

I don't think anyone knows exactly what happened, or what was said to/about our players. Apparently Schloss heard something he didn't like. I was a few rows behind the home dugout on Saturday and I heard absolutely nothing negative being said/yelled, despite losing and on our way to a second loss to Portland. I was in Section 209 on Sunday. I didn't see/hear anything but probably would have missed it from that far away.

Some jerk was badmouthing our players from behind the dugout. Schloss called him out in his presser and let his emotions get away. Thin skinned people on here took it personally.

Pretty much the nutshell.

I really don't know when this fanbase got so damn soft. Y'all go find your safe place now I'm sure bad old Schloss will apologize and beg your forgiveness. Christ you'd think he'd shot Rev.
