Imo, Craig Snider Is not a viable option.
He is if he is the last candidate standing. Clearly, he is far down the list of highly regarded/desired choices. Presently, he appears to be the spare tire you use if you must. Snider not being announced or even mentioned prominently since JE's termination speaks volumes.

I hear what your saying, and I'm trying to say politely / respectfully as I can… he is NOT an option being considered, at all!

You never mentioned any other coaches saying that !

That's part of the game anyway.

As far as you saying this is a hire where there will be NO DOUBT that's just impossible really- there will always be doubt about something.

PM
TW

Would they still be as hungry?
Are they coming for one last big payday and then walk off into retirement ?

Do I think that would occur - I don't think so - these people have great pride - but there is that' doubt- there is that question?

So coaches like
Roacha
Diefel
Snider

They will be hungry as hell - they have something to prove.
There is a doubt with them also.

So having NO DOUBT of any kind is just a fantasy IMO…

I understand, and no offense taken. I offered only a hypothetical outcome.

Not speaking for anyone....but I took his post to mean that TAMU left NO DOUBT when making every attempt to hire the best coach possible and the commitment of the university.

Jennifer Rocha 100% no doubt
TW 100% no doubt
Kenny G 100% no doubt

As for Snider, can he bring in big time assistant's, that's a huge question to me. His rolodex is long, but we'll see

I'm not going to say a bad thing about Snider because he's a good dude, hitting coach, recruiter.

I really don't know what they were expecting. I happened to mention that I was from College Station and that's what lead into the Evans conversation.

I mentioned that her contract had expired and that from my (simply a fan with no inside knowledge) perspective this had most likely been a long time coming. They just mentioned that it left a "bad taste." Granted they were not A&M fans so probably haven't followed the program super close.

On paper yes 100%

In reality there is a doubt just as I tried to explain

Can Rocha go from being a great Assistant to being the top dog - that's a legitimate question- there is that doubt. There is that question!!!!

But that doubt on any of them doesn't stop the hire!!!

Snider will not be the replacement. All I need to do is look at Bjork's recent track record.

Yes, the ones who are asked to leave and the ones who don't like the new hire

To me the only difference bt Rocha and snider is she is a top pitching coach... proven.... Craig is one of the top hitting coaches in the league. Think coach G before he left Florida. His role was minimal on Evan's staff when it came to making decisions(not his doing). Perception is what is is though and coaches can use that against him. I feel like we feel we are going to pull a coach that that is currently still playing. I hope so. I'm not a huge TW fan, but he is proven and will make us a winner. I do think Craig will be a top coach at some point in his career. He's a heck of a dude and the girls love playing for him. If we would get a coach like Rocha, it would be awesome to keep him as hitting coach.... but I got a feeling he will find a head job very soon if we aren't able to lock him down.

I am good on any that you have mentioned!

I have never said Snider should be the First choice.

Pm
Tw
LA
KG
JR
PD

Those are all absolutely great hires!!!
Can we get them - who the hell knows?

You get past those and then I definitely think Snider becomes very much in the picture! and is very definitely a viable candidate.

Someone awhile back said it pretty good…

Might be best to go with the dog you know vs bringing in one that you don't know….

So you didnt ask why it left a bad taste?

I guess they were expecting us to give a lifetime contract to a coach that won what one conference tournament game in ten years?

I'd just like to say that in no way did I mean it would be morally wrong to hire a man to coach the team. That's not it at all.

I think it would just feel I don't know weird (?) Or off to me. Seeing that I watch softball practically religiously and they've gone on all year how it's the celebration of 50 years of title 9, all the love the PAC is getting for all head coaches being female, the push being made to get more female coaches in the business and the like. Obviously - I don't want to hire a female just to check a box and say we did. It's just a feeling for me.

I am in OKC right now at the WCWS - and the general comments I'm getting from folks around me in my section is the average softball fan doesn't like how the Coach Evans situation was handled. I know "we" don't really care about that and in the long run it doesn't matter. But I have found that fact a bit interesting.

At the end of the day I hope our hire is someone we as fans and our players can be proud of and that we get back to putting a product on the field that we can all be proud of.

. Don't like how Coach Evans was handled? Seriously she was here almost 30 years and has not produced in years.I like her but watching our team play it was obvious that she needed to go they did not fire her, right? She was not renewed. If she had won she would have stayed.

I think they are of the mindset that she should have dictated her departure. Unfortunately, that was unrealistic due to the trajectory of our program and the SEC expansion.

That's really dumb… coach Jo was at A&M forever and the last few years were gifts that she wasn't let go sooner.

They also don't have a clue that if she stayed there would have been a mass exodus.

Our women coaches were just bad!!!

I would also expect that those who didn't like the way Coach Jo was let go are the ones who liked how we performed in the last few years and don't want to see us get better.

No way, no competitor would have liked our performances.

Those folks didn't care about softball results, just having a good person in charge of the program.

Terrible take. But they felt she was a high character leader and had shown she could coach. It's harder to support removing good people who coach and have been successful. Or villainizing them solely on outcome.

The recruiting for the current season was interesting. The team showed a lot of promise. That it regressed to mean is the point of frustration and after enough times it is absolutely fair to say it wasn't going the right direction abd make a change especially given the contract was naturally expiring.

Putting words in other folks' mouths or ascribing bad thinking to them is vile on the other hand.

Well the women's basketball coach he hired was accused of racist and some anti women stuff. He knew about it, thought it was getting better with some "structure" they gave the coach, and then extended him. The school newspaper got hold of the story, showed it hadn't really improved, and the coach was gone in about 6 hours.

The women's soccer coach he hired got fired for being abrasive and literally giving women on the team eating disorders. He lasted less than a year.

He extended Mike White the year before MW ran out of town to avoid getting fired.

He extended Mullen the year before the complete meltdown that was last year. And that hire was one I was against from day one, who Mullen was was obvious from his last stint at UF.

There are some other Olympic sports where he is tolerating mediocrity as well, but that's a longer discussion.

Folks are optimistic about the football and basketball hires, but he is out of mulligans. He just seems to have no clue how to evaluate potential candidates or job performance. He takes the path of least resistance when er possible. Pretty much the opposite of Foley.

She wasn't let go. She coached through her existing contract and her program did not perform well enough for her to be offered a new one.

It's easy to sit and talk third person about how someone else should be okay with their results.

Agreed. She is one of the best people on the planet. I have doubts that she has interest in being a head coach at A&M, but she is awesome.
