It is rare that such a high profile (or at least as far a rankings go) will occur between non-conference opponents this late in the season but a number of leagues have "open" weekends once the conference season begins. Both East Carolina and UCLA belong to conferences with an odd number of teams playing baseball which means one team in the league will have a OOC opponent every weekend.

and if UCLA (27-6) was not already locked in as the #1 overall seed...

that was the Bruins' 4th series win vs. a top 20 RPI opponent. (OrSt, Stanford, GaTech, ECar)

KSU had 1 conference win this year. They've now tripled that after their visit to Austin.

This might not be true if you actually went and looked at the numbers, but it seems like the sips are upset by K-State way more often than anyone else. K-State won the baseball series last year too. And it seems like they upset texas in football a bunch as well. I might just be remembering the exceptions (and forgetting all of the other times as I don't really follow them or KSU that close), but it sure seems like they lose to k-state way more often than they should.

We average .57 runs per inning offensively

We average .40 runs per inning defensively

This is including the 17-5 game against Kentucky

But in the last three series we have
.33 per inning offensively against Mizzou
.37 per inning offensively against LSU
.32 per inning offensively against Auburn
Which is slightly below our defensive average of .40

I think we only need to be in the .55-.65 range to win most of the remaining series offensively.

I was happy to take the tie in game three since we were playing so poorly, but blowing that 2-0 lead in game 2 in the top of ninth against Mizzou still really sucks. We'd be first in the west, since our winning percentage would be better than miss st.
