Very tough loss for UGA. Had a 1 hitter going into the 7th (I think) and then gave up 2 runs an in infield single that the batter beat out on a bang-bang play.

looks like A&M will start the weekend at RPI #17 in Warren Nolan's. Definitely need to get back to winning series.

Auburn won the season series last year. A&M had won it the 3 previous seasons in 2015, 16, and 17.

The Tigers are 3-3 on the road in league play. 4-2 at home

crazy start to the LSU-Mizzou series.

LSU scores 3 in the top of the 1st, then Mizzou scores 6 in the bottom half. Thought this might be a low-scoring series.

edit...LSU then answers with 5 runs in the 3rd. Leading 8-6 at the moment

Then again, the sec West is the best baseball division I have ever seen so...

Both of those conferences have an odd number of teams so they have to have midweek series during conference play.

Just an oddball note for perspective on some of the challenges in other parts of the country.....

Air Force is scheduled to play a 5 game set over the weekend against Fresno State. Mountain West plays home and home weekend series in conference. The first set at AFA was snowed out completely, so they're making up the games over the weekend in Fresno, They were originally scheduled to play 3 straight double headers before dialing back Sunday to just 1 game (travel requirements).

BTW, Tommy Gilman has settled nicely into a starting infield role.

In the last years of the SWC, they realized 18 games wasn't enough so they played 4 game conference series in 3 days. This coincided with the rise of Rice and the era of gorilla ball. Made for some long weekends for pitching staffs.

so that leaves Tennessee (26-11) at 6-9 in the league at the halfway point of conference play.

the Vols' RPI is top 10, but a winning conference record is probably necessary to host. Which means a 10-5 mark in the second half of league play vs. UK, Arkansas, Mizzou, UF, and Ole Miss. Will be a tall order

There was also talk of making a winning conference record necessary to get an at-large bid.
