He's a true freshman playing what, his second game, at first. Give him a little slack. Davis was pretty terrible at first for the start of the year and turned it around.
His third game but the point still stands. In Hunter's defense he has some nice plays at first. Ideally Gutierrez would be filling in for the injured Davis since he has gotten reps there but did not perform well either in the field or plate on Thursday.

I can look it up if you'd want... But "innings" doesn't tell how many pitches a guy throws and is a pretty worthless stat when trying to gauge "overuse". He could've literally thrown 7 pitches to go 2.1 innings or he could've thrown 50. We don't know and those numbers aren't easily available that I know of.

Your average of 2.4 basically turns into 2 1/3. Which would be coming in during the 6th with 2 outs, pitching the 7th and 8th.

Sounds like a mid reliever to me.

You're right we don't know pitch count and that is an important factor.
