Pressure? They are absolutely exhausted today. No reason to make this game some type of "lose and the season is over" situation.

I like my 10-year-old's perspective on this one.

"Hey, I'm proud of the team for going 15 innings with the number one team in the nation. That means good things are coming for us."

I will stick with that mindframe.

Good for him. He hasn't been following RC coached baseball teams long.
So if a clueless idiot follows the wrong path for an extended period of time, that suddenly makes him right?

One positive from last night, we outplayed the #1 team in baseball for 8.5 innings. Hopefully this young team can learn from it and win today
I think they have a lot of pressure on them today to win. If they lose, it will be considered a failure this weekend. If they had won last night, they could relax and enjoy today knowing they beat 2 world series teams this weekend.

Most were predicting 1-2 or 0-3 this weekend. I'd say it's right on par so far.

4 texas teams for early bragging rights and recruiting. It's big. Dont want to go 1-2 against the other teams that are also recruiting the kids Texas and Rice used to own. We still have to play both those teams this year.

Schloss absolutely owns Childress, more so than Augie ever did.

Ehh.. RC was 4-17 against Augie and never won a series against Texas.
In the last year we were in big 12 we finally took a series vs Texas winning 2 outta 3.
RC only series win vs Augie in 7 years.

Nothing changes... at least they are consistent with the losing. I know better than to invest myself in A&M sports, because it always ends up this way

Just really bothers me that RC has not adjusted. He's notorious for taking out the hot hand.

Can't. Beat. The. Frogs. The game announcers kept saying the recent history indicated TCU would likely find a way to overcome the comfortable Aggie lead and win a thriller. Many watching the game had the same thoughts and were waiting for it to happen.

You can spin this until you puke. It was nothing less than more of the same.

They'll be spin, we had weeks of it after last year. But I can't understand why anyone is upset, it's not like we haven't seen this year after year. Time to laugh it off and move on. Well at least that's where I'm at it at this point.

So he pulls guys too soon while leaving guys in too long at the same time. That, right there, is mighty impressive.

Despite my frustration with Childress' devotion to bullpen roles....

TCU is the unanimous #1 team in college baseball across every poll. Everyone was in agreement that our team should be in the middle of a "rebuilding" year. The Aggies have gotten some impressive performances from freshmen and a handful of pitchers. Going into this weekend, I was considering the idea that we might get swept.

They embarrassed, what in some polls, was a Top 10 team in Tech and showed that they could look better than #1 for 8.5 innings (before Childress decided he couldn't go off script). A win today would be a big boost, but the performances over the past 2 days have me thinking Regional Host isn't an unrealistic goal for this group considering we have a more 'favorable' SEC schedule than in some years past.

That had nothing to do with TCU being the #1 team and everything to do with our SOP Rob Childress coached team late inning meltdown. 5 straight walks had nothing to do with the opponent.

DVR ed the game after the bottom of the 8th cause I had to work early.

I know baseball be like that but you have to go with the hot hand.

I know it's hindsight but I just cannot understand Childress's pitching change. However, I would love to hear him explain himself.

It's early in the season, and not a conference game but goddam it, what the hell were you thinking???

Given the talent level A&M has in the last 5 years, I'm sure we can get to a Super Regional, but after that we need smart insightful managing and aim afraid I've lost confidence in Childress to win a National Championship.

I'd like to think he's learning, but I see the same dumb managing mistakes over and over.

Then what is your take on the last 2 years when A&M was expected to make the CWS with loaded rosters and being highly ranked during both regular seasons?

It's like he's completely tone deaf. There is basically zero logic to taking Martin out when he did and then leaving Sherrod after the second walk. Now Sherrod's psyche is likely fried for an indefinite period and the team psyche has likely already been set for the rest of the season.

He takes out the HOT arm too soon and leaves in the STRUGGLING arm too long. I'm not sure how that is a hard concept to understand. I guess reading is hard.

A little "RC's advocate": By bringing in Sherrod, would that have meant that both Martin and Sherrod could be used today? Whereas if he takes Martin the extra inning, Martin would have been burned for today? I can see why many think he should've stayed with Martin, but ideally anybody in that bullpen should be able to nurse home a five run lead in the ninth.

The problem for me is the walks. I don't care if you're Martin, Sherrod, Max, or somebody from the stands - walking four (?) straight to start the inning with that lead is absolutely inexcusable.

Not to crap on anyone saying good stuff in this thread, but **** that. Last night was classic A&M. We can try to rationalize it however we want, "young team," "poor coaching decisions at the end" etc doesn't matter.

Fact of the matter is, it's classic A&M because it's just that* whiff of what really being great is, and then FACEPLANTING on the pavement grossly.

Our school does this in every sport. ****ing SUCKS

I agree with this for the most part. Young team. Great future.

However, it's absolutely ridiculous to allow a pitcher to walk more than 2 guys in the 9th inning up by 5 against the #1 team in the country. Specifically when that player had the exact same control problem in his last outing against an inferior opponent. You go out there and take the ball and bring in Chafin right then. NOT RICHARDSON with 2 innings under his belt! Baffling is the only word for that. It's too early for him to be put in that situation. What has he shown to make Rob think that he should be the next guy up?

Pulling Martin was a mistake. He's had his issues but, the defense behind him hasn't been great this season either. He might have given up a few runs but, could have struck out 2-3 guys in the process. His stuff is that good. Or.. Pull him if he shows you otherwise. Give him that chance at least.

Walking 5 guys in a row is just giving the game away. That's a long ass leash. Scoring 2 while leaving the bases loaded is a gift wrapped situation for a team as good as TCU. They really didn't have to do that much. That's the part that is beyond maddening. It never should have even come close to that.

That was a fantastic opportunity for the RPI situation that also could have been a positive season momentum shift. A tremendous confidence boost. Instead its a huge question mark regarding how this team responds to something that was for the most part not their fault. This is on Rob.

I hope it doesn't linger. Good thing they have a week full of patsies to recover with after Baylor. Lets hope they can pull it together today. Good luck either way.

Yea when they pounded #1 Florida in route to a SEC Tournament Title and was consistently the number 2 team in the country through out the year and was a Top 8 National Seed.
