Aggies denied national seed, will host College Station regional
Since the Super Regional format's inception in 1999, a team that finished in the top eight of the RPI and had its athletic director sitting on the NCAA Baseball Tournament selection committee had never failed to receive a national seed.
Until Monday.
Texas A&M, which placed third in the SEC in the regular season, reached the semifinals of the SEC Tournament and finished No. 6 in the RPI, was expected to receive the third of an expected three national seeds from the SEC when the 2015 tournament field was revealed.
Instead, only No. 2 LSU and No. 4 Florida were awarded national seeds and TCU, which went 7-5 against the top 50 (A&M was 14-7), had a worse RPI and strength of schedule than the Aggies and flamed out of the Big 12 Tournament with an 0-2 showing, was gifted the No. 7 seed.
The Aggies will be the 1-seed and host of the College Station Regional, paired with the Fort Worth Regional. Should both hosts win their regionals, A&M and the Horned Frogs would meet at TCU's Lupton Stadium in the Super Regional round.
The field for the College Station regional will include the Aggies, 2-seed Coastal Carolina, 3-seed California and 4-seed Texas Southern.

Have to ask about the Eric Hyman factor as A&M's AD on selection committee. Wonder how much he vouched and clamored for A&M. No way to tell.

All A&M did was go 2-1 in SEC Tournament and rip Carson Fulmer and win 45 games and go undefeated in non-conference. TCU 2 & que in Big 12s.
