Which always makes me question why folks here want to fire everyone so we can hire the #1 coach in the nation. That's not how this works. Now we're setup for a rebuilding couple of years with an up-and-coming mid major coach. You think that's going to be better than the last few years?

Gotta love that ROI A&M athletics continues to get on it's coaches. Paper tigers that can only get to a certain point then leave. And then the coaches we want gone like the WBB and soccer coach are kept on well past their usefulness.

I want a coach who wants to be here. That was no longer Buzz. This was his choice, and he made it all on his own.

Best wishes and best of luck to him, but we're moving on.

Not sure how I feel about it. Unless we promote one of his assistants, and then I'll know how I feel about it.

Where's the camp that's not upset about this? Point me in that direction. I knew we couldn't/wouldn't fire him, and frankly I didn't want to. However, this is the best of both worlds. Regardless of who we hire, when the program goes backwards for a little while, it was already going to do so next year with Buzz at the helm. Time for new blood on someone else's dime.

I don't think he is realy gone. This is likely fake news.

No way Buzz doesn't take Solo with him. Solo was his favorite player on the team.

Unfortunately a spot on assessment. Buzz had major coaching flaws. But the only people more inept than our coaches are the people hiring our coaches.

Good riddance. The last handful of Aggie MBB teams have been old and mostly untalented, who peak in January and are in near free-fall by March. This is a team that went 3-6 in its last nine games -- we beat Yale (midmajor that I won't dog too much -- username checks out), LSU (worst in the SEC), and Auburn (caught napping before their final 4 run).

Thankful for his service and for some decent seasons, but I'm sick of A&M paying him top 10 money to never make the second weekend in his 6 seasons here. We can do better!

Literally all of his teams peaked in March except this one lol. At least be right

Darn and I was just getting back into being interested in A&M basketball again because of Buzz and what he brought to our team and its individual players. Based on my many years as an Ag since my attendance and graduation from here, I'd have to guess that whoever we get will have a number of ups and downs and will achieve no more with our team than Buzz has in his years here. And, will probably have less beneficial impact on his players' lives after their days on the court at our school than Buzz has had.

He was paid top 10 in the sec (7th) but not in the top 10 (17) nationally.

What a terrible match. Buzz will find that Maryland isn't quite as conservative as College Station, that their expectations are MUCH higher, and that travel is a real fun when you play conference games in LA, Seattle, Eugene, Lincoln, Iowa City, and Minneapolis, the conference travels that are time zones away, not hours.

Imagine thinking that high-level basketball players and coaches care about playing/coaching in a conservative environment

The "Mayor"'s record at Nebraska hasn't been then great. I hope Alberts doesn't hire him.

Players make free throws, not coaches.

Coaches recruit and develop those players. If it's a consistent problem, the buck stops with the head man.

That was always why I scratched my head when people said, "Kennedy only went to 2 Sweet Sixteens because he had some NBA guys". Yes, he did. He recruited those guys to come here and developed them.
