Willard left because UM had terrible NIL and he didnt think the school was supporting the program or changes he felt needed to happen. I don't see Buzz going to a place like that.

Terrible NIL and signed a lottery pick McDs AA freshman that hit a game winner to get to the sweet sixteen

Well things might get weird, the basketball reporter Jeff Goodman continued to hear Buzz Williams' name but do not believe he is a good fit for the Northeast. Them his cohost John Fanta reiterated sort of the same thing and suggested that Maryland should go to a Texags' favorite... Chris Beard (see podcast link from tonight).

Perhaps Maryland might go somewhere else and if they do now what is next for Buzz and Trev Alberts?

I just think Maryland wants to get this hire done quickly because of the portal and since it seems like they have been talking to buzz and buzz would be an easy mover they can make this happen quickly

Buzz fancies himself as a scholar. Surely he's wise enough to know it was likely a degenerative sports better, and very well maybe not an Aggie. He could have said something to the effect to protect the brand but he chose otherwise because he knew he was leaving.

This board is so funny. I told all of you on the day he made his speech about A&M being racist that two things would happen:

1. We'd lose to Michigan
2. He was leaving.

I was (as usual) called all sorts of names, banned, told off by bobinator for dare questioning anyone's loyalty to the program, etc, only to be proven exactly right.

I don't know how the rest of you can't see this stuff when it's unfolding right before your eyes. Our athletic program is absolutely toxic and headed for the doldrums and everyone who is anyone, is trying to get out while they can. You can thank the people who run our athletic department for the next 15 years of misery we are about to go through.

He was asked about it.
As to why it was brought up by a player? Probably because media gets a lot more access to players at the tourney. The local media got to go in and talk with any and all of the players in the locker room.

The topic came up because Jace Carter brought it up in an interview about how he had received racist comments, was cursed at and death threats. This was not a topic Buzz started, but he had to respond to a question in his interview,

Buzz took the lowly Virginia Tech program to the Sweet 16 which is in Maryland's backyard. He knows the area. He's gone IMO.

Considering this new world of college athletics, Maryland is a dead end job for any sport. Their current coach publicly lamented how behind and cheap they are.

Buzz going there is a stupid move unless he just cares about his salary and not winning.

I was a massive Buzz Williams guy since Marquette. But I'm really kind of over it. The whole branding thing with Buzz. A basketball not being first approach etc. The exhausting way that it is with. Buzz. Getting a young hungry coach who is more interested in winning basketball games than TED TALKS and branding would be nice. A coach who is more interested in getting the best talent not just "fits."
