All Buzz criticism can stop

I've criticized him as much as anyone.

We've always had a great defense and team toughness with Buzz, but at times the offense was just unwatchable to me from bad shots, bad turnovers, or the inability to score for several minutes.

However, this is going to be the 2nd really good season in a row for A&M Basketball expectations. Buzz is firmly off any kind of doubt or serious criticism. Last year was really great what they did after losing Marble, who was one of the best offensive big men in the country and at worst our 4th best player. I think a case could have been made he was our 2nd best player.

This year we're having a really special season and Buzz is showing he can grow/develop a team into a veteran team that can compete with anyone. That's ultimately where A&M basketball is right now. We need a coach that can age a team to the top. We're not going to compete every year with McDonalds All-Americans at the moment. We need a coach that can stay patient with his staff through the criticism and age a team with development. This team has seen it all and should believe they can win when they step on the floor against anyone.

There's still things we can nitpick if they want to win it all, but Buzz and staff def deserve support for a few more years at the very least.

I'm a big Buzz guy, but I don't think a coach is ever beyond criticism. Sure the calling for him to be fired after each loss should stop, but I think it's OK to fairly criticize him or anyone else.

Criticizing specifics is ok. Being overly critical and calling for him to be fired has been over the top imo. He has built a very strong and i believe sustainable program that I know I am proud of as a former student and cbb fan .

I'm with Marc on this one. Everyone deserves critique. And yes...Buzz and the team have put together a very special season this year. But that does not excuse:

  • Blowing a double digit second half lead to a very mediocre Central Florida team
  • Blowing a 22-point second half lead to Texas
  • Failing to advance out of the NCAA tourney first weekend
  • The losses over the years to Harvard, Fairfield, Murray State, and Wofford
  • Mid-season, 8-game conference losing streak

And I am a huge Buzz supporter. But just because I'm a supporter, it doesn't mean his performance and results shouldn't be reviewed, analyzed, and the problems fixed. He seems to have mostly done that this year...but we'll see if he can rebuild this roster for next year. Lots of talent and depth won't be back in '25-'26.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

I'll continue to question and critique coaching decisions as well as strategic approaches, but also continue to try to do so in a reasonable manner.

Those who "criticized Buzz as much as anyone" could definitely stand to tone it down, though, because he's taken way too much heat, and not gotten nearly enough appreciation, from the more vocal negative fringe.

So it kinda sounds like you're talking to yourself, and others like you, rather than everyone else. Hope you listen to yourself!

Sounds like you shown try coaching. Dawn Staley's team lost to UCONN by 29 yesterday. I'd hire her in a heartbeat! Crap happens.

And she should catch criticism for that loss. But with Staley...and Buzz...I'm not saying either should be fired. Criticized, yes. Fired, no.

Buzz's brand of basketball with these guys, right now, at Texas A&M, is working! Get on board or GTFO!

If you look at a school like A&M and expect blue chips to line up to play basketball at Texas A&M, you are as tone def as the Mavericks management. Buzz recruits the type of players that excel at all of the other measurables besides shooting. Then get a get a dog like Taylor (undersized scorer whos has an incredible basketball IQ) to stay all of these years and let the others develop into absolute studs, all while keeping them from transferring.

I am hopeful we stay healthy and continue to elevate our play to make a serious run to a the final 4 in our backyard!

Every year you would think it wouldn't be difficult for Buzz to get a player like Taylor, then find a robin to team him up with, and then pluck the big physical disruptors from DFW or Htown. He has LA right there too. I am very interested to see who we reel in from the portal for next season too. And that's why I really hope we can make a deep run and start garnering more interest from impact plyers.

It's okay to criticize BuzzI've done it myself, and I'm a huge fan. What bothers me is the small subset of fans who only show up to be negative. They seem miserable, and they just want everyone else to be miserable too.

Buzz freaking nailed the portal. If you look at my other alma mater, UNC, Hubert Davis is a great man, but he has three 5-stars on the court, completely whiffed on the portal, and is crying about not having a GM for the basketball program. UNC likely won't make the tournament, but would easily be in the field if they had Pharrel Payne. Buzz hit on 3 transfer bigs in a row (Coleman, Marble, Payne). Meanwhile UNC got Okonkwo (you have to think Buzz would have gotten more out of him, too, though).

Ags are going to lose many of their meaningful players after this season, with only Solo & Payne likely back next year as starters from the current team.

Who's going to become the Taylor that takes big shots when needed? Who's going to be the next Garcia and Coleman?

Because of that I think the team will take a step back from this season, which means that Buzz will be criticized week in and week out, while he continues to build players for the long haul.

We literally started Wildens Leveque last season at center, one of the worst big men I've ever seen start for a team that made the NCAA Tournament.

It's like anything, we can criticize Buzz when he does things worth criticizing. But like others have said, it's the going off the deep end or only showing up when we're losing that gets annoying.

This is the most miserable person I've ever seen. He pops up every time the Ags are facing adversity. I don't know which poster this is but my goodness.

Leveque played the fewest minute of any of our forwards. He was just often on the floor first

Yeah, I'm just pointing out that "hit on 3 transfer bigs in a row" is being a little generous. I'd argue we basically missed on everyone in last year's portal class though Jace Carter is a decent depth piece that's had some good games at times. But Lawrence and Leveque were replacement level players, not even close to the caliber of Phelps or Payne (or even Wilcher, who would have played a much larger role on last year's team.)

Buzz Williams does not spend any time on social media reading any opinions here. It really doesn't matter.

Only criticisms I've sometimes raised my eyebrows at are when things get personal like criticizing Buzz reading books or criticizing Kennedy for attending church. Stuff that goes completely off the rails with regards to the actual basketball. I can't remember what the most popular personal criticisms of Turgeon were, other than him whining about the fan attendance .

"Has been" over the top? Maybe for anyone calling for him to get fired this season - but then I'm not sure who you're arguing against. Prior to this season we have underperformed relative to the salary Buzz is getting paid. I don't think anyone can be faulted for wondering if we were getting appropriate ROI.

As for "sustainable" - let's see how things look this time next year. Lots of seniors on this squad.

Can we not just celebrate what we have now? Idk why we have to anoint an uncertain future or make excuses for a shaky past. This season is ****ing incredible. Let's leave it at that.

I think I've ascended to some other plane maybe where I don't really get that nervous anymore until the end because I just assume no matter how well or how poorly we happen to be playing that eventually we're going to make it close at the end.

Small subset? All it takes is a couple missed free throws to literally double the poster count on the game threads.
