I'm with Marc on this one. Everyone deserves critique. And yes...Buzz and the team have put together a very special season this year. But that does not excuse:

  • Blowing a double digit second half lead to a very mediocre Central Florida team
  • Blowing a 22-point second half lead to Texas
  • Failing to advance out of the NCAA tourney first weekend
  • The losses over the years to Harvard, Fairfield, Murray State, and Wofford
  • Mid-season, 8-game conference losing streak

And I am a huge Buzz supporter. But just because I'm a supporter, it doesn't mean his performance and results shouldn't be reviewed, analyzed, and the problems fixed. He seems to have mostly done that this year...but we'll see if he can rebuild this roster for next year. Lots of talent and depth won't be back in '25-'26.

Sounds like you shown try coaching. Dawn Staley's team lost to UCONN by 29 yesterday. I'd hire her in a heartbeat! Crap happens.

Staley has 3 titles, 3 additional FFs, and 5 additional S16s or E8s. She's only missed the tournament itself 5x in over 20 years of coaching.

Not exactly a good comparison. Besides, UConn has 17 wins this year of about 30 points or more and a ton more of around 20 or more. They can beat anyone by 30, including a powerhouse like SoCar, on any given night.

Buzz does it his own way, between roster construction, what the team focuses on, to offensive and defensive philosophy.

I would like to see them incorporate a pure shooter. Not sure why, but they don't get Wilcher many looks. Maybe he needs more motor.

Games can be tough to watch sometimes between our streaky shooting and giving up open 3s - but proof has been in the pudding lately.

Enjoying this year thoroughly, it feels like we could play with anyone. Very interested to see what the roster will look like next year with many contributors set to finish their Aggie careers this season.

I'm not saying it's going to be a great year next year but I wouldn't be shocked to see him bring in guys that can keep us competitive to build around Solo and Payne. Will take several very good transfers and some very mature freshmen . I also think there are some players- redshirts + McDermott and maybe Lee - that aren't playing now that will contribute next year. It'll take some time but wouldn't be totally surprised if Buzz contends for the tourney next yr. Definitely will need some sporty guard transfers . I also think all that is not a totally unreasonable possibility.

I like Buzz. The only box he needs to check is tournament success, ie playing in second weekend. And I think his in game coaching and added wrinkles this year have been outstanding. When you compare how we had to attack OU compared to what we have in our repertoire now it's been excellent. And I believe it will only get better from here.

Even with football, my blood pressure never gets as high as it does when watching a Buzz William's basketball game.
I think I've ascended to some other plane maybe where I don't really get that nervous anymore until the end because I just assume no matter how well or how poorly we happen to be playing that eventually we're going to make it close at the end.
I was weirdly calm when we went down 8-0 to Arkansas in the first five minutes so maybe I'm on my way.

meh, Buzz is a grown man with strong self beliefs...I doubt you or my critique will faze him...
so be the zoo that we are...

it's more entertaining that way...

Phase him? Yeah, I doubt he gives 2 ****$ about the criticism / advice he get here.

What you find as "more entertaining", I find "amateurish or uninformed" at best and "cringey or sad" at worst. The "entertainment" content does not reflect well on Texas A&M. IMHO

Jimbo wins Orange Bowl- We can never critique him again.

Jimbo never won as big as Buzz has won for 4 straight years. If Jimbo had put up 10 wins, 4 years in a row...he'd still be our coach.

Football has had near a Billion Dollars thrown at it over the last 25 years and has little to show for it. Buzz is winning Big at a football school.

His offenses deserve criticism, but his defenses, rebounding and all out hustle deserve the highest praise. They can all exist in the same world.

Good points on here.

Love this team, love the guys, but we can be hard to watch.

Buzz absolutely reads TexAgs (or has an assistant who does). I doubt he cares a whole lot about what is said, but he knows what it said.

All of that stuff should be overlooked now as he's shown he knows what he's doing and no coach, team or season or game is perfect

The program is in good hands with buzz

Buzz hit on 3 transfer bigs in a row (Coleman, Marble, Payne). Meanwhile UNC got Okonkwo (you have to think Buzz would have gotten more out of him, too, though).

We literally started Wildens Leveque last season at center, one of the worst big men I've ever seen start for a team that made the NCAA Tournament.

It's like anything, we can criticize Buzz when he does things worth criticizing. But like others have said, it's the going off the deep end or only showing up when we're losing that gets annoying.

And Leveque saw the floor because of why?

Yeah, I'm just pointing out that "hit on 3 transfer bigs in a row" is being a little generous. I'd argue we basically missed on everyone in last year's portal class though Jace Carter is a decent depth piece that's had some good games at times. But Lawrence and Leveque were replacement level players, not even close to the caliber of Phelps or Payne (or even Wilcher, who would have played a much larger role on last year's team.)
He hit on Garcia too,

Buzz has proved he can get it done at A&M which is not the easiest place to be successful

It's time for everybody to embrace Buzz as OUR COACH, because if we don't somebody else will show him the appreciation that he deserves

What I love about Buzz (aside from the wins) is that our team has an identity. A brand if you will. We have a way of playing that works for us, and when teams don't allow us to play our style of ball it typically doesn't go well for us. We are not blue bloods... we are something else, and I like it.

That's something I think the Football program could learn from. Too many times when I our football team, it feels like we are trying to be something we are not.

"His offenses deserve criticism"

Because he's winning too much? That can't be it…
Maybe because it is not aesthetically pleasing? That I understand, but the record trumps the aesthetics.

As the season is progressing I am finding the offensive flow of the game getting prettier and prettier. The entire offensive production does not depend on Taylor and Phelps.

I'm not sure if that's true or if I am just getting use to our style of offensive.

I do LOVE our defense. It is just a pleasure to watch it work.

Only thing certain with this team it's gonna ugly basketball but tonight was a new low.

I'll say it a say it again for us to go deep in the tourney Wade and Phelps are gonna have to play together. We need 35-40 from them every night.

Yes, lets fire him and start all over because he is building the most succesful basketball program in Aggie program history. But that's still not good enough.

Whiners are the worse.

Then when this team does well....they take all the credit.

But when we lose, they say "I told you so".

Buzz does much more with far less than anyone in D1. He is incredible and more importantly an incredible human being. And yes, that matters! Buzz gets to stay in Aggieland for a long, long, long time so get use to it whiners.

As many have pointed out, Buzz teams at A&M have too many let downs (it's a given to happen).. Too many examples this year, but happens every year. Offense is always a bear to watch at times as aptnto gone stone cold at the worst times. He's not the guy IMO (too interested in preaching and writing books and I'm atill ticked at tu collapse as pathetic), but also will admit we won't get anyone better (not a bball school).

Hoping they somehow make a tournament run, but higher probability of getting upset prior to rd of 16 or 8 vs winning it all. It's his MO at A&M.

I'm a big Buzz guy, but I don't think a coach is ever beyond criticism. Sure the calling for him to be fired after each loss should stop, but I think it's OK to fairly criticize him or anyone else.

Buzz criticism for tonight.
Team was way too sloppy.
They played scared.
Wilcher one minute in the second half.
MSU is tougher than us.

At no point did I even remotely suggest firing him. Your reading comprehension is terrible.

He's still the same coach. Until he takes the team deeper than 1st or 2nd round, criticism is warranted given the resources and proximity to talent. With a roster littered with seniors, there is zero reason for this team to not make the Sweet 16. Anything else should be met with criticism. Even a flop loss in the Sweet 16 would not be good.
