Jerald Brown was a helluva nice guy
He played when I was in school and I'll never forget watching him in a pick-up game at the Rec. He was so bad for the Aggies but when I saw him at the rec he was coming down and shooting everything from at least 5 feet behind the arc and I never saw him miss once.

edit: great Jerald interview with Gabe and Rusty from several years ago here:

"Steve Sylestine from the 1980 NCAA tournament team. Bench player who now coaches at SA Clark I believe"

Steve was a defensive stopper. He started every game he played at A&M.

We played together at Clear Lake. I taught him everything he knows.

Solid player no doubt. Just not talked about much. I'm not sure about your comment on starting in every game. He averaged around 7 minutes per game in 1979-1980.

Don Marbury from the Bronx. I believe he was the father of Stephon Marbury from the NBA.
Uncle.

edit: according to wiki Don was his father and I'm wrong and he died in an NBA game in 2007. I've never heard of this before.
Father's name was Don, Don Jr. played for Shelby was Stephon's brother. Don Jr. was a JUCO transfer, he put on quite the show defiantly had that NY playground game.

Lost to Louisville in Double OT. Louisville won the damn tourney!!!

Fun fact. We scored 53 points in regulation in all 3 games...
I remeber it like it was yesterday. We were the best opponent the Denny Crum coached Cardinals faced. It was also our best season until the arrival of one Billy Clyde Gillespie.

I brought YOU SUCK BOOKOUT signs to OU games several seasons after he graduated, and even an OSU game

One of then was a generic ESPN acronym sign with the intention of flipping it over to the YOU SUCK BOOKOUT side once on camera

Hard to call a guy obscure when he played in the NBA, and was the best player on an NCAA tourney team.

In practice, Shelby would always say when Harry Bostic got the ball in the corner
"Hit it for 'Em Harry".
Another guy on that 1967-68 team was Bill Brown from Galveston.
Terry Trippit was the enforcer on that team.
