A hot sauce ain't really a "hot" sauce unless it can make somebody crap their britches within an hour.

Yellow bird habanero and yucatecan black label is about as hot as I go anymore.

I've perverted my taste buds. I still enjoy milder sauces for all sorts of applications, but still crave the endorphin-releasing sear of a sauce made simply for stupidity's sake. It let's you know you're alive and able to enjoy something inaccessible to most people (when you can't afford caviar, Pappy Van Winkle, Ferrari's, or Instagram models, you grasp what's within your reach).

Or you could just smash your hand with a hammer or punch yourself in the dick.

I should probably be ashamed of this, but I think my favorite is Allsup's taco sauce.

I got a bottle of the yellow bird habanero. Tried it tonight. It's too hot for my enjoyment, but it has a good flavor. What is one of theirs in the cooler side of the spectrum that is good to try?

The serrano is their best

What did you try it on? I put some on some hash browns Saturday morning and it was delicious. Didn't think it was too hot. Maybe the potatoes held back some of the kick..

I put about a dime sized amount on my finger.

I also put some on my eggs but it wasn't enough to really taste it.

Although I can't stand the name.. My next sauce is going to be Dirty Dicks. Gotta thin the current herd first..

Bought the yellow bird Serrano and tried it today. Didn't love it just by itself, but it was pretty darn tasty on my fried eggs.

It's great on nachos! Just chips, lots of cheddar, and the serrano hot sauce.

Tried the Ghost Pepper/Blueberry from Bravado. Definitely a unique sauce. I think it would be delicious on a sausage biscuit. Going to try that this weekend!

Dirty Dick's is great, but it's very sweet. You can taste the bananas in it. They call it tropical but it's made in Vermont. Who knows? But I love it on chicken and rice. Need to order more....

Lotta good sauces listed on this thread. Love Secret Aardvark and Yellowbird, though they don't sell the hab version up here so I've only had the Serrano.

For Marie Sharp, Belizian Heat is the way to go.

High River makes some good hot sauce. Foo Foo Mama Choo burns your tastebuds pretty good but its a good reaper sauce without being inaccessible.

Trader Joe's Hab sauce packs a good amount of heat while still being pretty damn tasty.

Anyone make their own and willing to share some good recipes? (Not you slicer, unless you're willing to share ones that don't include 9 reapers....)

Just add one ghost pepper instead of 9 reapers and it will still be good.

PIcked this up in Kauai last month. We were at a market with a couple food trucks and ordered up sushi and pizza and had a picnic, and it was awesome on everything. Sweet but a nice kick!

Base is the same, but doubled down on the reapers.
It's possible I may have gone too far...

So I got around to trying the Secret Aardvark hot sauce, and it's good, but it tastes a little too much like jerk seasoning for me to want to always have a bottle in the fridge. For me to keep a bottle of something perpetually in the fridge I want it to go well with just about anything, eggs, pizza, chicken, popcorn, etc.

Why keep hot sauce in the fridge?
Slicer97
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Because it tells you to on the bottle. Depending on the water/vinegar ratio and ingredients, some sauces don't have enough acidity to fend off bacterial growth at room temperature.

Not everyone likes a hot sauce that's 60% reapers

Well, they're missing out on what's good in life. More for me.

But for chile sauces that use a lot of fresh chiles or fruit and not a lot of vinegar, yeah, refrigerate after opening.
agdaddy04

Yea I couldn't imagine not refrigerating Yellowbird or one like that. Now Tabasco, that's probably one that doesn't need to be but I still do.

Don't bother. It's vinegar and fermented chile puree. Ain't nothing growing in that crap.

Don't worry, don't have any. Pretty much just Humble House and yellowbird for me right now. Have another few that are in the exact same kind of bottle as yellowbird but they're not near as good and can't remember the name right now.

I've got my wife hogging all the Humble House Ancho sauce. That stuff is legit!

Hot sauce on fresh popcorn is awesome. Open the bag, drop in some sauce, shake it up, enjoy.

Just made Batch 3 because everyone who got Batch 1 is running low and wants more. I may be starting a side business soon.
