let's make this a thread withyour favorite pics of food. the only rule is that it has to be a picture you've taken. you aren't required to have prepared the food, but it has to be YOUR photo.

apologies if this has already been done.

some of my favorites:

fajita burger at ninfa's on navigation in the tine.

pizza margherita at da michele in naples.

the chicken onion at feast in houston. (a whole onion wrapped in chicken skin oven roasted till GB&D)

jerk pork at the pork pit, montego bay, jamaica. blows away any jerk chicken, ever.

Horrible cell phone pics, but this is venison backstrap, fresh/never frozen, garlic, salt, pepper + oil. There are few things better than 'blue' venison!

from my garden a couple of years ago:

My freezer after a large beef purchase (~500lbs.)

At my cousin's kid's wedding, nothing says love like a table full of "big sub sammiches from Walmart*":

My homemade CFS:

The infamous Bony Dog wine:

My oft-mentioned tamales:

a nice before pic of some crappie I caught (with obligatory Bony Dog photobomb)

not mine, but my brother made his own version of this last year:

Griff's burger in FW:

Chili Cheeseburger from the Dairy Palace in Canton:

My son with a Dr. Pepper shake in Dublin:

From one of our "grill days" at the office:

another grill day pic with chicken/bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeños:

grill day spread:

more grill day fun:

bacon/cheese/jalapeño dove (another grill day):

hangover breakfast at camp prior to the Okie State game: Hashbrowns, poblanos, huevos, cebollas, queso, and red ecnhilada sauce, later topped with guacamole, it was fantabulous:

Raspberry Chipotle Bacon Chocolate Chip cookies:

That's pretty much everything I had in my photobucket account. I'll raid my Facebook page later to see if I have anything else from recent vacations.

seriously jealous of that beef freezer. i'd like to do that someday. i just don't think i'd ever eat all of it.

possible thread de-railment: is there any way to make a carpool group, but for a cow? like 4-5 people go in for one cow and get like ~50lbs of meat each?
Tree Hugger

It took about 18 months to eat it all.

This may sound like seriously blasphemy to some, but I was so sick of eating ribeyes because we ended up with so many. Every time we had a small family gathering, I always offered to bring the steaks.

On the carpool thing, most places where you can do a bulk order will have smaller options available, the per pound price will be a little higher though.

so did you go through a particular meat market?

one guy i used to work with would split a steer with a friend from the fort bend county fair auction and then have it processed into steaks, etc. he said he got like ~250lbs or so. that's still way too much meat.

getting tired of ribeyes! that's what i've heard called a "first world problem". i'm so tired of these delicious steaks!

YOU ABSOLUTELY can, but you just gotta get the friend first dont expect the butcher to do it for you.

schmelender, my family does that all the time. My parents will split a calf with someone, so each gets 1/2. Then my parents split their half with my husband and me, so we essentially end up with 1/4 of all the cuts. I think last time we did this, we ended up spending less than $350 for meat. I honestly don't remember how many pounds we ended up with, but it was PLENTY for the 2 of us.

I know Rosenthal runs a special where you can buy a side of beef, processed and vacuum packed. If you find someone to go in on it with you, you essentially get 1/4 of a calf.

I need to find all my food pics but this was easily accessible. This was my Christmas dinner last year and while it isn't too glamorous on the surface, a prime filet with Bouchon's macaroni gratin and a bottle of Bond Vecina is quite possibly a perfect meal!

Speaking of Bouchon, here is the croque madame in Yountville last year.

yep....kosher for Passover.

I'm actually a fan of using the stuff though. Great in wine pancakes. Also great in a frozen margarita.

Tree Hugger - I'm a big fan of Dairy Palace. Also cool to see your son is in Boy Scouts. What rank is he? I'm an Eagle Scout. Had two different Cub Scouts from the neighborhood come by selling popcorn and I was a sucker, I mean very generous, and bought from both. I'll grab my food porn from Facebook and post here in a little bit.

Tree Hugger, are you guys looking to hire IT support? I think I could fit in well at your office. I'm pretty handy around a grill.

As for the freezer picture, my dad is a rancher and once a year or so he'll have a steer/heifer slaughtered and give my brother and I each a 1/4 of a carcass. I'm actually contemplating buying a second larger chest freezer because of it. I have a bunch of beef waiting to be picked up right now as a matter of fact.
