As shown, WestU Ag put together an incredible MacDonald lineup at an event that was one for the ages. And so many other great Napa wines and Champs showed up last night…it was unreal. Many, many thanks to him for getting everyone together.

Thanks again WestUAg for an awesome night!

JCA, I didn't realize you were there. I would have introduced myself had I known it was you. Or maybe we met and went by our real names instead of internet handles?

I think we may have missed each other. But you are correct it was one for the ages. I have a feeling my wine career will be all downhill from here.

Indeed it was. So WestU Ag, our wives, and a few friends did a little dinner on Thursday night to focus on non-Napa wines. I'd say it went quite well.

Thanks again to WestU for putting that together.

Cade,
Where do you live?

Any other Houston guys in here? We should plan a monthly wine dinner or tasting together.

A monthly tasting in or "near" San Jose sounds nice.

I like the Juan Gil blue and silver Jumillas, both have great QPR. This was also very good for the money, but maybe not as good of a wine. A little too sweet, more like dried cherry than ripe cherry, but it had the chalky minerality and viscosity I associate with good Priorat. I'd buy it again for that price to keep around for a party or good second bottle.

Tonight I'm having one I recently picked up from Last Bottle. Tastes like it is mostly cab franc, and still has plenty of fruit showing. Very floral on the nose and the front, and all raspberry on the palate. 15% but doesn't seem it, goes down pretty easy.

For Macdonald, I really liked the '19, '13, and '16 the other night. The others were great but these really stood out. I didn't taste the '21s, as we'll be having that one in a few weeks.

I haven't mentioned Inwood in a while, but we had an event Saturday that was very cool. An anthology tasting of our wines back to the 2003 vintage. It allowed the winemaking and stylistic progression of Inwood to be shown very clearly. We only allowed 25 members, and it was full in under an hour after the email went out. We may do it again since the demand was so high. -- Cecil

All of the older wines were "quaffable" to quote Miles on "Sideways". Many were very good and a couple just outstanding. The consistent progression and improvement was also evident. To the point we are today where our top wines are as good as any, anywhere at similar prices. I understand that some of you have a difficult time believing it, but the French had the same problem with Napa 50 years ago!
