Scarecrow release is today. It is quite possibly my last purchase from them. Prices are absurd.

Yep, last year to keep them. I'm thinking it's time to start flipping them next year.

if I can ask, how are you buying the older champagne? are you just buying Salon? Cause that's out of my league, but some other vintage stuff is of interest to me....

Does anyone have any recent experience with shipping times from Europe? I have an order from a winery in Montalcino that left Italy on 1/27, and it's still en route to the west coast distribution center.
got it, thanks...BSD said:bularry said:

I wish I was buying Salon. I usually just get one bottle of each vintage on those and then I'll get an older bottle to drink off a wine list or a retailer (in anticipation of an event). Mainly I'm buying from retailers that are brining in cellars. Dom, Cristal, Tatt, etc.

champagne has gotten crazy this past year.... I just don't understand, tbh still some good stuff in that $60-80 range for well done NV stuff from some smaller producers, but man, starts jumping pretty quickBSD said:bularry said:got it, thanks...BSD said:bularry said:

Specifically, I watch Benchmark and Envoyer. If y'all know any good shops, I'm all ears. It's amazing how much prices have jumped lately. It's rather ridiculous.
I'm in the Tour St Christophe wine club. They use FedEx and it's usually about a week. A couple of times there's been permit hiccups along the way, but always in two weeks.jh0400 said:

I've always thought that the two biggest threats to the jewels of a collection are a really good Saturday night or a really bad Tuesday night.Quote:
Maybe I put the good stuff that needs age on top so I'm not as tempted to grab one every Friday night.

Been trying to ignore it, but I'm confronted with that age old wine quandry.
Buy another chiller or drink faster?

That's awesome. Great buy!
Now I'm regretting not putting one in our new build.

Fomo is real. What area are you building? Still in houston?
in honor of this, I just ordered a few Gimonnet '14 Chouilly special club offerings... pricing not too crazy on these smaller guys, yet, although risingbularry said:champagne has gotten crazy this past year....
