Finally got my FedEx package today... was 1 bottle. But, that bottle was a non-released Canard Nouveau. Bougleais style, old vine Gamay and a touch of Zin. Canard (so guessing Brian and Rich) only made 100 botles. Not a bad Christmas gift, I would say...

I'm in for the Black Box!

Let's do this. I'll volunteer the house in Austin... kind of central I think?

We had a 2007 Volker Eisele Family Estate Cab. A little tight, but it softened in the glass nicely.

Had a 2009 Behren's Labor of Love cab and a 2006 Heitz(great suggestion by Cecil for the money) cab last night. The Labor of Love is special, at least to my simple taste buds.

Decanted both for 4 hours and really opened them up.

I got a bottle of Owen Roe Cabernet Franc for Christmas. It's one of my favorite Oregon wines.

I was told I have to point out that Owen Roe is from the same producer or something as Ken Wright.

But yes, BSD, I'd be interested as well... How do you do it?

Hey Cecil and Wadd - I'd be in for an epic Austin wine tasting. I've got some fun stuff from Turley, Booker, and a few obscure Napa family-run places that you can't get retail I know you'd enjoy..

I'm living in San Luis Obispo now. Edna Valley is down the road so we've been enjoying these small wineries; however, anyone have recommendations to offer up...here to Paso? Luckily Zin is my preference.

Medwards

There several very good wineries in Paso. Zin is definitely a dominant feature, but there are several successful varietals. Turley,Tobin James, and Justin, are some of the best known. But my favorite is Booker. Caliza and La Aventure also have solid offerings. If you like whites, Rousanne is an interesting Rhone varietal that several of the Paso winery's are working with.. I've actually enjoyed trips to Paso more than trips to Napa. If you just like to wander around, drop in unannounced an get a tasting with the winemaker, that still happens in Paso...
