I saw a few bottles of ECBP at Specs a couple days ago on west side of Houston. If you're in Houston, I'll try and find the address of it post it. I did get one for myself.

Keep posting. We won't be afraid now.

College Cooking - time to level up the cookbook game now too though

The cookbooks belong to the wife. The extent of my cooking ability comes from one Cajun and one Italian grandmother.

Nice starter kit.
But, please continue to hunt while on the road. Don't need more people to battle in BCS.

Having a smoked old fashioned tonight.

I am pretty sure they have stopped Spanish oak but may be wrong (and hope I am). It's so good

I picked up a bottle of RC Spanish Oak at Costco in Sugar Land last week. They had quite a few bottles. Haven't seen them anywhere else.

You're going to need a much larger bourbon shelfing system. And attach it to the wall so it won't topple.

Last thing tonight, I promise: I had a pour of Still Austin Cask Strengh at Marfa in south CS tonight while at dinner with the wife. I had never tried any of their stuff prior but had some buddies say it was pretty good.

It surprised me. Pretty bold stuff for Texas bourbon and wasn't over the top oaky like you get with many selections in our climate.

That being said, they were advertising at Disch-Falk Field on Tuesday night as an NIL provider for Longhorn athletics so as much as I liked it, I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Horns down. Always.

I've already propositioned my father-in-law for such a project.

They have billboards all over town as well, from just about every side of the city as soon as you get into town. Horns all the way down for sure.

Nice to see the green on here. I like your collection you got going. If you like the king ranch you should try OF SiBBP. One of my favorites. And sazerac rye for old fashions is hard to beat for the price imo

I can definitely see that. I'm generally on the cheaper side so anything with MSRP over $100 I struggle with. I had it at a blind tasting which also included an Angel's Envy finished in Caribbean Rum casks. Those were by far the top two bottles we had.

It's definitely good; I'm just cheap. Try it if you find it.
Aggie Therapist got me to try 1792 FP too, that's another solid pour. Any of their non- small batch stuff is good that I've had.

I love those 1792 bottles. I hear you man, there are a lot of bottles under $100 that can trade punches with expensive stuff.

I grabbed the Knob Creek 9yr single barrel while in Colorado for spring break. Great pour for a relatively easy find under $70.

The cask strength is better than the regular lineup which is pretty meh.

I don't buy it because they are dirty sips.

I know. I hated to give them any credit after what I saw on Tuesday inside their ballpark, but that cask strength was pretty tasty.

I really need this new distillery in Bryan to start pumping out good barrels once their stuff matures enough to put on the market. I've had some of their early stuff, and it's promising

It sucks that they market the sips, but their Master Blender Nancy Farley is a legend and their limited releases are all really dang good.

Couldn't see your pic, but if you ever make it to FW on a weekend, I have plenty for you to try. Good luck on the bourbon hunting'

Not because it's "that great", but I don't see a bottle of Blanton's on the cart. I personally like both 107 and EHT more, and they're cheaper, but Blanton's is worth a try.

I also really like double oaked products, they tend to have a little more depth without the harshness so Elijah Craig Toasted barrel, woodford double oaked (you can find that anywhere), as well as OF1910 &20 are solid. I really liked the 1924, but probably not at the $125 retail price.

I've had Blanton's a number of times so I didn't feel the need to spend the money on it when there were so many others out there that had similar or better reviews.

I can't speak highly enough on the Frey Ranch stuff. The cask strength bottle I've got from them is right up there with EH Taylor and Eagle Rare in terms of overall profile.

I'd like to add a Starlight VDN to my collections soon, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere in Bryan/College Station.

For Blantons and other over hyped labels, just make a ringer bottle. I probably have 13 empty Blanton bottles in my garage waiting for me to make them into lamps.

At $50 it was a decent pour. What they're charging now, not so much.

I've had 90% of the "good stuff" going back to the 90's.

I mostly drink OF Rye and Benchmark Overproof.
