Of them all, I think we enjoyed Whiskey Thief the most. Very small operation. Tastings straight from the barrel.
That Rye I got from there is 124 proof and was incredibly smooth.

Did you get a bottle right out of one, or did you mix with other barrels?

They said you couldn't mix. But yes, bottled my own straight from the barrel. Pieces of char floating around in it.
I have a bottle from Whiskey Thief from my visit as well. That was a cool place and it looks like they upped their bottle quality since i was there. When we went they just had blank glass bottles and once you picked a barrel to bottle from they wrote the ABV on the label sticker and stuck it to the bottle.
LOL, yea it was straight from the barrel. The lady running the bottling did allow us to mix, and in fact recommended some mixing. There were 6 barrels when we tasted.ChoppinDs40 said:

I mixed the rye barrel with the wheat. Also liked the wheat barrel on its own.

Probably changed their method there so that people weren't mixing and coming up with things that weren't good that then got tasted by others.

Regular bottle. Filled it. Then they put all the label and stuff on once filled.

Haha of course they did. I'd never seen or heard of the stuff, but I enjoy most other SW stuff. No idea if it's worth the $86 they wanted for it.

This particular store got these bottles in last Friday and didn't put them out until today. Every store has some autonomy to make that decision.
