Yeah the store I was in had 5-6 at the $140 price point. I don't think they are moving. Think I'll pass.
I'd rather the distillers raise MSRP to the point flippers can't make a career out of it. Also stop giving distribution to mom and pop shops that will charge above secondary.

Yeah. I agree with the 2nd part wholeheartedly. There's a shop here in Bryan wanting $300 for W12… taters are lining up for it. Earlier this year she was asking $80 for EHT SB. Not getting any more of my business.
There is one here who was asking $220 for both W12 and 107 because "they're both 12 year"
At least that's a little closer to reality, and if I wanted to make poor man's pappy, I might entertain it. I just can't stomach asking $300 for a bottle that carries an MSRP of $45….
I agree that W12 for 300 is bananas but I was annoyed that the 107 was double secondary and they were basically trying to scam someone by advertising that it's also a 12 year.

These days, if a bottle is under $100 I don't try to get too worked up about price because I know that: 1) some stuff is just incredibly hard to fine, and 2) prices very so much. Now, if someone is trying to rake me over the coals, then obviously I'm not going to buy something or if it feels like the price is completely ridiculous. But bottles over 100 are where I have to think how much I want it and is the price really worth it.

Oh I don't touch the Black Jack anymore. Drank it like a maniac in my 20's. I agree that any single barrel Jack product is high quality. I'll partake in some Gentleman Jack if someone offers it to me but I haven't bought any for myself in probably over a decade.
Finally got a call from specs for allocated stuff. Not a bad haul.

Smith st in Houston. Bought a barrel through them this year so that helped.
Some people camp out a few days starting on Christmas for a bottle Blantons while others get calls to go pick up 2 BTAC and a Van Winkle Rye. With a little flair you could make a modern day Steinbeck novel out of it.
Gonna have to go the barrel route soon. Just need to figure out logistics.
What's the thought about Thomas H Handy Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey, 124.9 proof, uncut/unfiltered, barrel proof whiskey in regards to price/taste/etc.? I got a call from Spec's today they had a bottle for me.

Its a top tier bottle in terms of desirability. if you have a chance to buy it at MSRP you dont pass it up.

Looks like remko12 got the same "call" from specs that also included a couple of other bottles on top of it.
around that. i paid 125 for mine last year from a state run store. secondary is easily above 500 and im sure you will find a taker on the trading thread if you dont want to drink it.

I honestly don't even know. 20K - 25k I believe.
If you buy and want to resell to an Ag without full secondary I'm interested. I love the stuff. My last bottle is from '07 I think.
