Have y'all heard of the bending branch? (Brandingbranch.com) they have a bourbon that's pretty good and they do barrel selects

Awesome! That's the #1 bottle I'm hunting. I love WT juice.

Has anyone noticed ECBP sitting on the shelves for a bit these days, especially after the last price hike? Went to the store on Saturday and noticed that there was still 4-5 bottles of the Private Selection (the abc version of a pick) from the drop the prior week. Not the first time i have seen it sitting on the shelf. Wonder if that is a sign of demand slowing or just happenstance.

I think its just the normal lull for liquor sales. Things will spike up soon with the holiday and bottle buying for clients/gifts. I dont think the ECBP sitting on the shelf says all that much about the current bourbon market. Maybe price hikes are starting to stop hoarders, maybe?

I tried the first RRSR at "break-even" price and loved it. Can't remember what the MSRP was for it.

you are probably right. Will be interesting to track and the big fall releases and batches will be starting soon.

Thinking about liquidating some bottles into a WLW or GTS. Anyone got thoughts on which would be best?

It's hard to trade up for that - you need really good bottles or cash

Just on 2022 BTAC, I'd take the GTS over WLW every time. If you're considering it, see if you can find somewhere to try them side by side and decide which one you would enjoy more

Depending on year - roughly 900 for GTS and 1500+ for WLW. Probably closer to 1700

190k bottles this year at $145 msrp. Value ratio is absolutely plummeting on this bottle unfortunately

Damn $145? It was already $200ish on secondary.

I actually think it's the right direction for distillery's to go, though.
If Demand exceeds Supply; increase the prices to help stabilize and get rid of the ridiculous secondary market.
I'd rather the distillery make more margin on their product, than some individual with a distributor or liquor store buddy.
Ultimately, should mean more drinkers getting bottles they want/willing to pay for.

I 100% agree with that sentiment. When I say "value ratio", I'm referring to the inevitable drop in quality that comes with increased production. The liquid used in these special releases is generally getting younger and less refined, and there have been some noticeable differences in the last couple of MWND releases when compared to earlier iterations.

If the distilleries make more money, I want them to invest it back into increasing quality and producing more good products. Some do, some don't. That's just business, but when we see the huge MSRP jumps coming out of Wild Turkey/Russell's and now High West I expect a corresponding increase in quality. It's getting to the point where you can do a blind tasting on the new $300 RRSR compared to the $450 WT Generations and the $150 RR13, and the RR13 runs away every time. Sure, that lowers the secondary values on the two high MSRP but then you still have to pay the premium to have them and the juice might not be the same value (quality/dollar).

Very fair point.

Hopefully again, though; the market reacts to that. If the juice isn't as good... the higher MSRP bottles should sit on the shelf even if they used to be heavily sought after. Bourbon drinkers will catch on quickly.

Ideally, distillery makes their money; re-invests into their product, increases quality and the higher price tag eliminates flippers. Too easy right now to flip the 50-75 dollar bottles for 250+. And then the premium stuff gets too easily flipped from 100 to 500-1000+

This years Single Rick might be the best bottle to come out of WT in years. Don't listen to Whiskey Raiders. That dude thinks THH is the best BTAC every year.

I'll have mine on Friday, looking forward to trying it. Few different people saying Generations isn't nearly as worth it, not that many people will even have access to it
ryeguy

I haven't tried the Generations yet, but I'm also hearing the same from most reviews.

While i understand and agree with your point i do find it somewhat humorous coming from someone with the handle of Ryeguy.

Touche. But plenty of amazing 6-8 year barrel proof eyes out there sub 100 just sitting on shelves is my point. No 12 year barrel proof wheaters, or 17 year 101 bourbs, or 18 year ryes just hanging out.

I've been extremely fortunate to win the BTAC lottery twice in the 4 years (5 total bottles) i have lived in VA, along with all of the other stuff i can get. One of the few things ill miss about the place if i end up getting a new job will be that.

Stumbled upon some OF SBBS (Jacobs batch) on the shelf while out visiting some clients today in Princeton. Interestingly the store had multiple bottles of it on the shelf for close to MSRP while they had a bunch OF KR behind the counter. I haven't had this particular batch yet (129.4 proof) but given how much I've enjoyed other barrels I've tried, I'm hopeful this one will be as good. And honestly much prefer the other versions I've had over the KR
