So, a couple people have reached out to me with their concerns about shipping. I ship bottles all the time, but with this heat wave in Texas.....I am going to tap the breaks a little.

Anyone have any advice on summer shipping? Is it better just to wait for the Fall? Or is it not as risky as I'm making it out to be.

I disdain shipping Blanton's in any weather.
I've shipped in the summer quite a few times, although it does make me nervous with this heat. I typically ship on a Monday so that the package is delivered by the end of the week, Friday, and not forced to sit over the weekend in the heat of a warehouse, cargo truck or box truck. I also use a fairly large box with a lot of bubble wrap and foam peanuts so that the bottle is well insulated. Knock on wood, I haven't had any issues.

With Blanton's, I've seen folks use large zip ties and run them through the legs of the horse topper. That and wrapping them heavily seems to work well from what I have seen.

Nice. Great suggestions.

UPS is always my go to and if you ship to another Texas location it's like 24 hours

Don't do it. Just received a bottle that didn't make the shipment with the heat.

Do you typically have family outings at distilleries?

I bring my family to distilleries and breweries all the time. Since they were babies.

Southern Pines Brewing Company in North Carolina was a site to see. Maybe more kids than adults at times. Great spot.

Treaty Oak is very family friendly with an amazing grill and landscape

If we're including breweries in this, Martin House and B52 are great. Their outdoor area is great to let a kid run around without disturbing lonely people.

This limited edition kit (SRP: $129.99) will be available for purchase starting June 30 at the Four Roses Visitor Centers in Lawrenceburg and Coxs Creek, Kentucky, and will roll out in select retailers in Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, and California starting in mid-July.

These are going to be hot hot hot on the Texas secondary markets.

Hmmm, coworker lives 5 minutes from there. May need to place an order with him.

Yeah. My family LOVED it there. And we had a lot of date nights at the SP Growler Company. Many delicious brews on tap.

Martin house was our favorite when we were living in Fort Worth and we'd all bring our families. Nice outdoor seating and space for kids to play. Pre Covid they had a bunch of food trucks parked just across the street which gave good options.

Can anyone recommend a good bottle that is available at most stores, doubt I'll find anything harder to find. Need a celebratory bottle for this weekend. I've got a $100 to spend.

I would get on the trading thread and ask for an OWA for $100?

Sitting on the shelves? Where are you located?

KC9 120, Bookers, Smoke Wagon UU?

Another option ECBP for $100, will probably need to get someone local to sell you one. Shouldn't be hard. OFBS may be findable also.

Pretty much findable on a shelf for under $70:
MM cask strength series
Rare Breed
OF 1920
KC 120

EHT SmB is also going for around $100 secondary. You can get one of those pretty easy.

Total wine has had a store pick available this past week when I was there. Penelope Toasted is probably my favorite daily drinker out there.

First pour of this was pretty disappointing, hoping it opens up for future pours. Weird funky palate, but the nose and finish are classic rye sweetness and spice. Palate is just strange and has a lot of ethanol
