I poured one tonight to try and remember. The nose is incredible. Heat comes mid palette and the flavor bomb lasts for a while at the end. I'm getting dark red fruits, vanilla, burnt sugar. Honestly, it's super unique but maybe a mix of stagg jr and russels 13

Yep. Same rusted cap too. I'd try it, it may still be ok. But don't sell or trade it, since it's likely corked. If it's corked, hopefully you got it at Total Wine… they'll let you return it for a full refund. RC has to use better corks and caps on their next run of high end products, this has happened to a ton of RC16 bottles.

I did a quick search but didn't find anything here or the web so I was curious if one of you might have any insight on what is going on with Whitmeyer's Distilling? They had been operating out of the industrial space over on 1960 in north Houston, then they shut that down and were going to move operations to Tomball. Then it looked like they were going to move to the Heights.

I really enjoy the blended bourbon / rye bottle of theirs and it's not getting restocked at the local stores. My guy at Spec's tells me that he heard that they may have been sold to a larger outfit, but I can't verify that. Try to call them and the number has been disconnected, and Google has them listed as "Temporarily Closed".

Anyone have any idea what is going on? I am down to my last bottle of the bourbon / rye and hesitate to open it fearing I may not get any more...

Just got the Total Wine priority access email for Spring. Interestingly, no Pappy or other antique collection bottles on the list this go around, at least for the Dallas/Las Colinas location. Not like I would have won one anyway…

Correct. It's only the winter lottery that gets Pappy/BTAC.

I've got an employee flying down to SA tomorrow. Im going to have him pick up a bottle of Rebecca Creek for me. What easy to find bottle (Specs or Total Wine) should i tell him to grab? The last Rebecca Creek product i had was at OSU? game watch party in like 2011.

Sounds like the Spanish oak is a winner, if the 16yr isn't available.

Y18, M20, HH17 in that order i think. But I love Yamazaki so if single malts aren't your thing then switch.

I didn't get the email yet - in SA and a grand reserve member. The Rim is my store (not really - but that's in my profile).

M20 by a mile, Blade and Bow 22, HH17, Yam 18 and ask if u can swap Fitz19 for a Blantons. It smells like vomit and tastes slightly better.
