that guy either has the palate of a God or he meticulously scripts his tasting notes. I can't take his video's seriously, but I find them very entertaining.

Tasting notes are cool.

What is cool to do at bottle shares or bourbon night with friends, is blind pours. Do this in the beginning so palates aren't blown yet. Pour a well known and liked sample of something. Have everyone write down the first "note" they get off the nose and palate. Go around the table and see what people think it is and what notes they got. It's fascinating to see how different (or the same) everyone's opinions are.

Also, throw in a shelf turd in there at some point. Always enjoyable to see those reactions.

If Basil Hayden would ever release something at 100+ proof it would probably end up being a pretty decent pour. Maybe the 10 year will have some complexity even if it is still 80 proof.

jealous of the EHT Single Barrel. Hopefully it will be in one of this weekends ABC drops.

As it is, Basil Hayden fills a gap at 80 proof even if it isn't for everyone.

Basil's standard offering is good for what it's worth. Basil Hayden 10 was probably the biggest let down of all time

I swear, houston has got to be the epicenter of high end bourbon never being in stock.

I stumbled into one rando shop recently looking for some good buys, they had a large amount of relatively rare stuff. Asked what the price was..."not for sale!" Well thats one way of running a business.

Turns out the guy uses the nice bottles as bait to get you to buy your regular crap from him. You could only cash in rewards dollars from buying other stuff from him to get access to buy the good stuff. The thing was, he didn't really have enough regular customers walking in to to run that gambit. Nor the selection or price to make it worth while.

I've been looking for some Elijah Craig Single Barrel for a while, he had it, but I would have had to buy about $500 in crap I wouldn't drink to get access to it buying it.
