New to bourbon, reading these threads and realizing my local liquor store has many of these bottles you all are having trouble finding (bookers, ecsb, michters, Wellers, etc.) Not only that but the prices seem very cheap. What should I be buying and at what price point?

Well, buy all of those, and they should be from $50 to $90.

Someone mentioned an app that may help called BoozApp to help with pricing.

There are different versions of most of those, make sure you are looking at the specific name

EC (ecsb) is readily available.
ECBP or ECTB are rarer.

Etc

I wouldn't mind picking up another Bookers but I dont want to pay the $100 price tag I have been seeing

I could get a handle or 2 a year with the right connections, but they'd all be gone off the shelves same day. Still very limited. 5-6 years ago secondary prices were much lower around $75 for W12 and ETL, and $90 for RHF.

I can remember walking away from a $39 price on a 750 of W12. Those were the days. Used to be plentiful.

And the wax was brittle as I pulled the tab and the cork disintegrated.

7yr, 107p, this is now up there with EC, I'm going to buy the rest of these older bottles.

Thankfully I save corks.

Had a fun little flight last night. All incredible. Saz definitely had the boldest and more complex flavoring my buddies dad gave it to him after winning grand reserve raffle last fall on the condition he didn't sell it. My buddy opening and pouring it made me a little nervous.
Mwnd was mine so I knew it was good. A little more subtle but sweeter. I was equally as intrigued to try the redwood line for some reason. my takeaway was more that The emerald giant is surprisingly good @$39

Need some help, friends. My son turns 1 next week. Looking to get him a good bottle for everyone to sign at his party. Anyone got anything good they want to offload? Maybe some leads in the Houston area.

He will, hopefully, in 20 years.

Worth the $99, it's a good bottle.

You know, I've never been much of a fan of 'buying to trade' because there's a chance I get stuck with what I don't like.

The only time I ever actively participated in buying solely to trade was buying cigarettes on south padre island in college. I would walk around and trade a cig for a beer at coca-cola beach where everyone partied. I never had to carry beer around with me, and the beers were always cold.

You're worried about getting stuck with W12? They sell for $225+ all day.

If you're buying at msrp it's a no brainer but paying secondary or close to that in order to hopefully trade it might be a risky proposition.

Agree. Weller 12 isn't a drinker at $50 but is tremendous trade bait.

Haven't tried that one. Is it on shelves or another mythical bottle?

Passed on a Calumet 15 and Sam Houston 15.

Don't know if that juice is worth the squeeze. Took an Eagle Rare single store pick instead. I find most 15s too oaky and musty vs scotch.
