Good haul today!

Honestly 0 for me too. I'd love to have a few but I'm no BMA and I've got a decent collection of around 20-25 bottles so I can find something to tickle my fancy.

I'm also half expecting there to be plenty of BT products in 3-4 years. I know they recently expanded and I'm just waiting for it to finish aging. And maybe this bourbon craze will die down a bit and leave some good bottles for us regular folk

I have 3 labels unopened: Blantons, EHT SiB, LittleBook
I have 3 opened with backup(s): THH, ER, EHT Rye
Everything else is single bottles opened.

I'm probably up to around 100 bottles with 55 or so open. Backups of some and some I just haven't got to yet. Nothing currently being "saved" for anything.

Zero.

I might hold back a bottle for a special occasion but I'll open it when I find an excuse without a backup.

For the really hard to find... I like to have one back up. If there's no way I'll ever get another one then go ahead and open it up on a special occasion. Won't live forever.

I don't wait for backups, but I might wait for a reason/occasion to open a good bottle. I don't buy it to look at it - I buy it to drink it.

I was able to go through 4-5 bottles of blanton's with always finding another before my current one was empty.

Last bottle, emptied last xmas party, and haven't found one since (only really 'hunted' for a few months, since then it's been very casual looking)

They are definitely harder to find here now then they have been in the last few years.

I was doing the same thing with Blanton's. Now down to my last half bottle with no re-supply in sight.

Yeah I would imagine but it doesn't hurt to ask. I am cheap and don't over pay bourbon, but I might make an exception for ETL. I wish I would have stocked up on it when it was easy to find.

I know it's frowned upon here but if I find something at MSRP that is somewhat difficult to obtain and the store allows me to purchase more than one bottle I am going to, every single time. I don't get out to the stores often so my chances of coming across it again are very low these days. Never sold a bottle, traded just a few times. I will sit a few bottles deep in something though if I happen to come across it multiple times within a couple months. Rest assured, it's going to be enjoyed though.

I was finally able to try Pappy 15 last week, and I would honestly keep a bottle of it around if it was available at retail. I really enjoyed it, but I think I would agree with you that in the current market I would flip it. The only bottle that I have "flipped" was a Makers 46 with the blue and silver Cowboys dip. I swapped it for two bottles of regular 46, and everyone was happy with that. It would be hard to pass up the secondary profit for Pappy.

I have had all of the Van Winkle line, and the only one I'd be tempted not to flip would be the VWFRR. I think I've come to realize that watered down wheaters aren't my thing.

ETA: Last year I was in a small town liquor store near my parent's house, and there were a few OWAs on the shelf. I bought one for my stepdad and left the others even though the store had no issue selling me all of them.

If PVW tasted like WLW, that would be a different story
