I don't think either of those are "dusties", just low end bottles that have been sitting on a shelf for a while. Old Taylor 6 year is one of the most flavorless bourbons I've ever had, can't recall if I've ever had the Yellowstone or not.

Thanks. That's kind of what I figured.

Can you buy that old Taylor 6 for me? I've been looking for one with an age statement. Unless it's plastic. Looks strange though like they took an old aged 6 years label and put it on there. There should be a double digit code on the bottom such as 09 which shows the bottled year.

That old Taylor looks like it could be a late 90s bottle but can't tell for sure. Look at the UPC code and if it's 86259 it's worth getting. That bottle won't be, just future reference.

Sure thing. I'll go back sometime later this week. I'll check the code on the bottom and text you before I grab it. I think I still have your number from the Blantons swap.

Well I was finally able to pop my Pappy cherry last night.

Went to Brenners on the Bayou and they had 10 year up through 23 year. Had the 10 and 12 and both were great.

Why not do the 23 if it was right in front of you?

The 23 was $90 for 2 oz.

The 10 was $19
The 12 was $25ish

I'm not trying to talk you out of anything if you really want the Old Taylor, but in order to be the Old Taylor that's worth a damn, it would have to date from before Beam bought the brand in 1987 (or I guess up to 6 years after which would be 1993), and the label would look like the one below. The 6 year age statement stuff from the Beam, and since 2009 Sazerac, eras is all pretty awful. And keep in mind the fact that I'm the guy around here that sings praises of low shelf bargain gems, that many other posters pour down the drain. But Old Taylor 6 Year is just baaaad.

Old Taylor label circa 1980's when it was owned by National Distillers:

Don't worry about it. John talked me out of it. I hadn't heard it was that bad.

I understand that you're mad and you've every right to be, but don't drink my Blantons, I left it there on purpose

May want to double check your safe room in the morning... I'm better at picking locks than hunting bourbon.

Just texted you a pic. I have no idea about these bottles. It's an auction so no set price.

Price aside, the 23 is my least favorite of the entire line. Not quite a drain pour, but I do not enjoy it. Love the 15. 10 and 12 can be quite good depending on the year.

Most people think 15 years is the best age of bourbon, I tend to agree

I have a strong feeling that the 25 yr Pappy that will be released will not be that good at all. Oh people will say it's the best **** ever but 25 years is a long time to sit in a barrel and have everything go right

You may be correct about being in steel but without me searching I sure thought it was Pappy

I think it's a 25 from 87. It's been in steel for a few years then bottled.

Just used my google. Was taken out of the barrels and put in tanks in 2014, and it is Old Rip.

The 1920 quickly became a favorite of mine for everyday. My store always has a bottle or two around.

1920 is some good juice. Started with it tonight and circled back on the 3rd glass
