They're all at msrp. That's kind of the big draw to the whole event is that the stuff isn't really marked up.

I think so. They'll have a lot of their picks left or more unique expensive stuff. Blanton's and Blanton's gold were about the only tater things left when I went through at 3:45 or so yesterday. They started no limits right about that time and some people were quite literally buy stuff by the case (ridiculous).

That's what lures me out. My wife and I like bourbon, but neither of us are really hardcore into it. Knowing the prices are MSRP and generally having that day off makes it worth it to go grab a few bottles to keep around. We keep a moderately stocked bar (about 125 bottles), so it's nice add a couple of to try or keep for when her brothers visit.

moderately stocked? 125 bottles?

Just 125? I suppose you just stack it in the corner of your wine cellar.

Tater

And I think he means 125 bottles total of liquor.

Some of us have that many of only bourbon

Ha! Not just bourbon (probably 15 bottles of that). I said "moderately" and gave a count because I figured one of y'all would tell me about how you turned your game room into a full bar with taps, wine cabinet and 100 bottles of just bourbon.

My wife decided she wanted to make cocktails at home, and we buy bottles as recipes call for it or if something catches our interest. We have two liquor cabinets and a shelf on the pantry to hold it. I tend to drink whiskey neat or maybe with a cube, and we cycle through that at a moderate pace. But a bottle of something like Cynar or Chinola or Fernet will usually hang around a while, and over time it adds up. And most of it is in the $25-$65 range, so we aren't breaking the bank.

Yes. And a tater, yes. You don't know what you like or don't like unless you buy it and drink it. At least I'm paying MSRP and not buying your rare stuff at a premium to make it a shelf queen for show.

Agreed. Got to try it somehow and paying a reasonable price is a great start. Might help you find the bottles you're willing to pay a premium for. I also like trying them at bars or exchanging samples

I refuse to chase any of that. It's a silly game.

And yes, I have over 100 bottles of bourbon.

Exactly. I went for a long time thinking I just didn't like whiskey. Seven years ago, we went to Ireland and my wife ordered Redbreast 21, one of the more expensive pours in that bar, with the logic of "try the best while we're here." It was amazing. From there, I found out I also like some scotch (Talisker, Laphroig and Lagavulin). Then I sort of moved into bourbon. I'm into sort of "try it all, and see what sticks."

Anyway, last post here for a while. Back to the bourbon.

Got to specs at 10 and out at 1025. Blantons gold, purple top, four roses, other sore picks. I think there was some Knob Creek 21 but I never saw it.

KC21 was close to the door on the floor in the case still. $230

The ultimate tater story from the Dallas drop was when they announced no limits, some dude grabbed 6 cases gold and 6/7 cases of ER. Pissed off everyone in line hoping to get something.

I passed yesterday because of the price tag, which is still steep, but I realized when I got home that I had all of their other releases and probably should've just bit the bullet and gotten one.

Gold Blantons are probably gone. Reg Blantons SB may be available. They had a ton of KC Cask strength, RR special reserve and Four Roses

I would have liked to have the MM Cellar Age, maybe next time

For anyone that has tried WT Beacon, where would it rank among your priorities relative to BTAC? I won a spot pretty high up in a raffle and expect to have a shot at some of them. Hard to pass on anything BTAC, but I'm a WT fan and am super intrigued by the Beacon.

I thought it was good but prefer other turkey stuff to it. I liked JD14 more, GTS more, RR15 more, generations more. Is it a good ending to the masters keep series, yes. Would I fall over myself to get it over some of that other stuff, no.

Picked up a bottle of Penelope Project X - Sauternes, and man is this thing phenomenal. I wanted the Maple Brle, but Specs ran out by the time I got there.

Longtime TA member on a longtime hiatus but a buddy kept talking about this thread so I've read the last few pages.

I participated in a whiskey/bourbon advent calendar this year for the first time and came across some interesting samplings. One of the guys contributed a bottle of Irene Tan Spirits Co. Cigar Malt Single-Malt American Whisky distilled in Blanco by Analusia.

I haven't found much on it online. It had a strong start with a smooth finish. I definitely appreciated the smoky aspects of the whisky and would buy a bottle if I came across one.

Anyone else try it before? What was your opinion?

I have some small amounts of different bourbons leftover and I thought that I would try making an infinity bottle.

For those of you that have made one before, do you have any lessons learned that you can share? Do's? Don'ts? Thanks for the feedback.

There are some folks who do it by measuring out each pour they add, marking what they put in, and keeping track like an accountant doing a forensic audit.

I just pour what little is left in whatever bottle I decide to finish and drink once in a while.

I personally just dump little bits out and use it in cocktails or with mixers

Go big or go home!
https://badmotivatorbarrels.com/collections/1-8-gallon-6-4l-barrel

My "rules" are nothing under 8years OR has to be a minimum 100proof. Preferably a mix between the 2. I have 1.8 gallons now at 14 months in a Bad Motivator infinity barrel, with a top TC fitting. Little more expensive but easier to work with.

I do what has been mentioned with writing down the amount I pour in, the name, and proof. I put mine in a really nice crystal Heaven Hill decanter that I won a few years ago.

Old Fitz bottles make nice decanters if you don't already have one.

What do we know about the Heaven Hill limited edition lines for Wheated, Rye and bourbon? The chinquapin bottles. Are they worth $135?
calebbogie

I tried the wheater a few weeks ago. Enjoyed it, but couldn't see myself dropping $135 for it. I can't speak for the rye or the traditional bourbon.
