I passed on a welcoming Two Hearted at Via 313 in Austin to save room for a Regal Rye which I shared with a buddy last night. Twas good, but not as expressive as it was a year ago.

This is good, but I think both Reese and I like the Jester King better. This is very sweet. The JK is dry and good because of that.

It's half work half pleasure as I'm just a grad student on a spring break consulting trek. So far it's only been the pleasure portion though!

I have not been long but it's been awesome. I am jealous of some others who left a couple days earlier to make time for Petra, Jordan.

Brought my own, because I don't want to drink Remy Martin all night at a Vietnamese wedding.

Split this very large bottle with Bookman.

It was suprisingly very good. Easy to drink.

That haze was a Weihenstaphen Vitus. A higher ABV wheat.

Flor was tops for me with cherry raz just behind it. Peach & Apricot was great as well, but I enjoyed both fruited Spons much more from the bottle.

I finally got to try this one this weekend, and it's my favorite of the PGS variants, especially after it warmed up a bit. Hopefully they bring it back cos i love me some mangoes.

I did, and yeah, brewery-only. Good stuff. Already hearing great things about the Boysenbarrel Sour Red from yesterday's club party.

Spent my Sunday afternoon building my son a loft bed.

He was super excited when it was finished.

So I decided to crack open this beauty that I picked up from the BSD fire sale. It's my reward for my hard work.

Holy **** this beer is amazing. Dry, but still slightly sweet from the currants. Cab barrel aging still showing well.

I have only been in the craft beer game for about six months but here are a list of my favorites so far

Victory Prima Pills
Alamo German Pale Ale
Real Ale Hans pills
La Trappe Blond
Brooklyn Pilsner (only buy it at Central Market in San Antonio)
Sam Adams Boston Lager
Sam Adams Winter Lager
Shiner 101 - I don't think they have made this in quite some time
Seven Spanish Angels

I have tried alot of IPAs I just haven't found one I would order again. Based on my list I would love to get any more suggestions for a craft rookie

i would suggest you start drinking some manly stouts. then once those put a little hair on your chest, we'll get you into some barrel-aged stuff.

Where are you located? Best way to get into it is to look at your local breweries.

speaking of training, we need to tie off on getting your lazy ass off the couch. Now that I'm completely done with Saddle Blazer for a year, I have some time to think.

I do need to get that NG shipped to you before it gets too hot though.

I would focus in on more German and Belgian styles since it seems you don't care for much hop bitterness. You could run the gammut on the offerings from Weihenstephaner (sold in the singles section). You could also start into the trappist and abbey ales. Chimay, Roquefort, Orval, St. Bernardus, Westmalle, etc.

And it will help because those will be the easiest to find around town. Everyone has to start somewhere... I remember when drinking a New Belgium was a big deal.

Normally big retailers like HEB will have singles you could try out. Just grab a few and see what styles you like. It'll depend on season too... you won't be seeing many stouts for a while but there are still plenty out there sitting on the shelf. Go to local breweries and try their stuff too, not just because you can expand the styles you like and don't like, but you are supporting local businesses which is always good bull.

From there you can start trying to locate "local" beers that aren't distro'd in your area. Typically grab stuff when you visit other cities or just keep reading on here about new offerings. If you haven't noticed, everyone is super cool about just tossing each other offerings when they can't get them. Just remember rule number one, don't be a dick. Pay it forward if you get hooked up in the future.

After that you can start looking nationally and slaying #whalez like all the big swingin' wieners on here do.

I'm just focusing on Time On Feet at this point. Kept everything under 140 bpm last week. Just staying patient at this point.
