For me it was Belgians. I have rarely seen Belgian dubbel, triple or quads on tap outside of Belgian centric places.
I could spend the rest of my life just drinking those few styles.

Truth... fortunately my buddy that has the local beer bar always keeps a Belgian on tap. Right now it's Pranqster which I intend on having with my lunch in about an hour. Another homebrewing story. A bunch of my beer buddies got together a couple years ago and borrowed a freshly emptied Bourbon barrel from the local distiller. We had a big brew day and filled it with an 11% Belgian quad then aged it for about 9 months. Talk about Nirvana. Definitely a beer to contemplate.

My HEB started off pretty good at pulling in a good selection of beers, including those newly distributed in our area. Now they're mostly back to Texas, and especially, Houston area beers. I'm guessing they just weren't selling.

If I see a 6 pack of something "new" or interesting, I'll flip it over to see it's well past it's fresh date.

They've has two singles of a Drekker IPA that has been on the shelf for months. I believe the brewed date on those was February. It's a bit embarrassing.

Sure I've said this before but there are far too many Texas Breweries pumping out delicious fresh beer for me to even notice anything out of state anymore. I don't think I've purchased an out of state beer since Willetized.

Also if you don't can date I'm not buying your beer… looking at you Turning Point.

Swung by applejacks yesterday and apparently they didn't even get any BCBS variants this year. Oh well, so many good BBA stuff available around here nowadays anyhow.

Brewing an English style IPA while drinking a Tupps New Color Machine left by a Thanksgiving guest. It's nothing to write home about. Also fighting a swarm of yellow jackets that are attracted to the wort. Someone left a bunch of watermelon White Claws in my beer fridge too. Standby , I will be reviewing that shortly… NOT.

Watermelon white claw. A hard pass from me on any given day, but an even harder pass from me on that drink for Thanksgiving.

Found some BCBS and $3 yellow rose on tap in El Paso of all places tonight.

And for the record, El Paso's beer scene is coming UP! There are some really good breweries out that way nowadays. Aurellia's initially kind of pulled that beer scene up. The city has gained a beer IQ and several taprooms and quality breweries have opened around the city. Prior to that, it was just the Hoppy Monk carrying the torch for people looking for craft beer.

Undisputed Craft House is one of my favorite spots out there, but it's so far east...

My previous job was headquartered in El Paso. I wore out the Hoppy Monk when I would go out there because it was on the way back to my hotel. Really good selection at the time, so I'm glad things are moving up there.
