Agree with La Fours. They don't make any standout beers. Blood and Honey is good when fresh, but most of their other available beers are very average to below average. I can't remember the last time I bought anything from them off the shelf or on tap. They've been trying to push some newer IPA's recently that haven't really hit, so I am not surprised that they are taking the money in the acquisition.

If you start a brewery these days and pass up a buy out.. you are way too hipster.

Every industry has buyouts and no one complains.. like an O&G startup is only doing it for the love of extracting oil from the ground! hah.

Sam is quite possibly the only exception! He is way too much into beer, and I don't think will ever sell out.

Blood and Honey seems to be the most popular but I can't stand it. Something about the spices they use.

Had their latest IPA (Full Tang) on Friday. Very meh.

They make good stuff. Nothing exceptional IMO. But pretty good. I'm not a huge fan of blood and honey like some others.
Ditto.

I'm not a huge fan of Blood and Honey either, but it serves as almost a "Gateway Beer" into the world of good beers. Up here, it has replaced Magic Hat #9/Shock Top/Blue Moon in most bars and I think they are seeing sales from people who would normally buy those.

I was going to post almost the exact same thing. I know several people that got hooked on craft beers because they tried Blood & Honey. I used to really enjoy it, but it's just a little overbearing at this point.

I want to put Revolver on the same page a Rahr just not as big. Same "ok" beer that I always pass over in the store, but I would take it over Shiner on tap. Although I think Rahr's Ugly Pug was one of the few Black Lagers that you can find; probably my favorite beer by them.

I don't think people are necessarily upset with brewers selling out, so to speak. I think its when brewers sell to a distributor like they did that is the issue.

I'd sell out in a heartbeat and laugh at the neckbeards all the way to the bank.

And I feel the same way, to an extent. If I created something that has become known for being a good product, I would want to make sure that the product I created and am associated with continues to be a good quality.

Interesting development since Revolver has been a very fast-growing Texas brewer the last few years, though none of their beers I've had (limited though they've been) have ever inspired a re-order from me personally.

i'm like some of the other folks here, i LOVED blood and honey initially, now i could take it or leave it. The rest of their beers are pretty standard.

I've talked to people about this before, but I have no problem "selling out". You have an opportunity to take care of your family for generations on generations? I'd do it. Just don't be that guy who talks like he's so awesome he will never sell out and then turn around and do it. Everyone has their price.

Redstone is top on the list of Texaggers I'd like to meet in person. Mainly just so I can see what a troll of his magnitude looks like in person.

Just Juicy. I don't know if we're sending any fruity bits out to accounts. If we do the most likely landing spot in Denver would be First Draft.
spotted at jakes brew bar in Littleton.

having a 5 stones sock hop lemon drop cherry on top. nothing ground breaking but I really like it. the combo of cherry and lemon drop hops works for me. refreshinng with plenty of fruit presence while still being a beer first and foremost. too bad it's not canned and in 6 packs because I could put down tons of this, especially in the summer heat.

speaking of 5 stones, is there anywhere around nw houston/cypress that keeps a decent inventory of their beers? I've really liked most of what I've had of theirs, and even if theyre not always home runs i appreciate them trying to do something different/creative with what they brew. I'd like to try a lot more from them but the only time I see them is when I'm visiting San Antonio (don't get to Austin much).

A Top 5 most insufferable poster on TexAgs. Always knew the band before you did, and he's well-versed in the difference between a Movie and a Film.

Thanks for the review on sock hop lemon drop cherry on top, I'm going to have to pick one up. I know they also just released Frederick Berg, their peach beer. My buddy in Fredericksburg supplied them with the peaches, so I got to see how it turned out and let him know. He is a stingy German and wouldn't dream of spending $12 for 1 beer.
