doc summed it up as far as what it is, fistful of unidragons (bba smoked malt RIS, tx special release) with espresso. mind you I'm already a huge fan of FOU, so going into it I had huge expectations, but it certainly met them. the espresso is very present and adds a great element to the beer. I imagine it wont see many shelves outside houston, but if I have time and they're available, I plan on picking up a couple more bottles over the weekend. can't guarantee I'll succeed, but if you're not in houston maybe I can grab you an extra if you're after one

I warned the new dads a few pages back about little boys that steal beers. He grabbed this one and chugged the 1/2 oz. that was waiting for the head on the snifter to go down. Needless to say, he was pleased with himself, and the beer.

Well I can't speak for the picture but I can speak to the greatness of Hub. Mentioned I had a couple years worth of celebrating to do (birth of son, grad school & taking a program from after thought to currently the area round of playoffs among other things) and he met me this morning and gave me a 2014 Hunahpu and a couple of other things.

This beer here . . . wow!
Lives up to the hype.

finally trying bishops barrel 13. since they both were released around the same time and have been extensively compared, I'll throw in my 2 cents on this vs kentucky habit.

I really enjoyed kentucky habit. but it either wasn't much a quad to begin with, or lost those characteristics in the barrels. bb13, however, seems to be much more executed to style. plenty of dark fruit and belgian yeast flavors that still stand out even with the bourbon/vanilla from the barrel.

id gladly take either if offered, but I give the nod to st arnolds on this one. it's close, but executing what you claim to be has to matter for something. I guess I need to aquire a bottle of each and do a side by side to be sure

Finals week and a Friday 5pm wedding cut into my beer drinking and texags time.

First up, from a barrel aged box from ChipotleMonger


I met up with MW and Kyle98 on Saturday morning. I wish it could have had been in the afternoon and we could have drank a beer and chatted as opposed to a quick jump off the interstate for a meetup. MW, glad you enjoyed the Huna. It's the beer that got me started in this hobby and I'm glad I could share it with someone who was celebrating. Good luck with that 9 month old! Then a quick stop to pick up this haul from Kyle98:


Always nice to arrive home after stressful day and a half of travel to this combined haul from NCol and Inspector Spacetime:


Lots of great beers in those pics. Excited to try the RU-55 fresh and age one thanks to this BIF and a BA Choc Stout sounds awesome (and i can drink non-ba version thanks to Kyle98). A couple punkinators to set back and age for the wife (she loves pumpkin beers) and i really enjoy Abyss. Last but not least, olooking forward to trying Welderwerks and that Bret loves Citra that NCol raves about.
