Finally popped open the Perpetual Peace and thought it was fantastic. Very well balanced. I wish I would've bought two now. Definitely didn't taste the 11.6% in it.

De Ranke, they were on the shelves here for little bit, it's a belgium kriek. It's pretty damn good.

I could be wrong but I may have seen that at the Blackhawk Shell yesterday.

My wife went by there the other day and saw the bitter but no kriek

Just tried the BCBBW with my uncle in law. We both thought it was better than the BCBS but obviously in a different category.

I agree. Bcbbw is my second favorite to bcbcs.

Finally got to check out Nobi Public House last night. Great place with good beers, and the pork banh mi was on point.

I wonder if I got a bad bottle. It tasted like what I expect an ash tray to taste like. But glad you liked it.

Now that you mention it I could see how someone could interpret the taste as "ash tray" but for me I was thinking more along the lines of a charred whiskey barrel. Thanks for ruining it for me.

So I just did a side by side of Dogfish 90 and 120. I hadn't planned on it, but I had a Pliny first. I found the 90 to be very sweet compared to the Pliny. I still think it's a great beer, but it changed the way I look at 120.

After that, the 120 no longer seems super sweet. Now, it just seems to have almost a barrel aged scent and aftertaste to it. Very interesting. I have two more, and will probably pair them with 90 again to see the differences. In this tasting, I appreciate it a lot more that by itself.

Sit on the 120's for a year or so. Makes a difference.

I'm not good at aging liquor, beer or wine, so odds are it won't make it past next week. I'll just assume the random MA liquor store that shipped it to me already aged it for long enough.

The bottling date is usually printed on the neck of the 120s

Thanks for the tip. I had been looking for it on the label. It says 5/9/14, so that's a half year of aging. If I save one for another 6 months, how should I expect the taste to change?

Had a 120 myself tonight. Tasty, but too sweet for me. May have to go grab the other I spotted and let it age a bit longer if it really makes that big of a difference.

Should mellow some and drink more like a barleywine. Have you had one by itself? The label says it's good to age up to 10 years. So who knows. But I've never kept one past a year or so.

By itself it tasted too sweet.

After tasting next to 90, I realize that east coast IPAs may just be sweeter that west coast. I like it a lot more now.
