My go to liquor store posts their beer arrivals on fridays. I missed one yesterday, FW Velvet Merkin. I just posted today saying, 'darn.. missed it. Any chance there are any left?'

Low and behold the guy responds, 'There is one left, I'll hold it for you at the counter'!

Score! Totally didn't expect that.



In the beer cellar it goes.

^ on the same note as henny, I happened upon my fav pumpkin that's hard to come by in Fort Worth. Have several dogfish head punkin ale set aside for cooler nights. Also found a bomber of epic's fermentation without representation. Between pumpkin brew and the Oktoberfest onslaught, this is my favorite beer season. (Followed closely by winter spring and summer)

I poured a Boulevard Saison Brett about 5 minutes ago and I'm still waiting to try it. There's a lot of foam.

Edit. It's actually pretty amazing after you get to try it.

How long did you refrigerate it prior to opening?

Saison Brett always has a ton of head. The 2014 I opened took 15 minutes to pour as well after spending a week or so in the fridge.

It was in my "beer drawer" in our fridge for 3 days.

I call it the beer drawer because it's in between the fridge and the freezer and I use it to keep my beers at 42 degrees instead of 34.

I nearly lost an eye yesterday when I opened the bottle of Boulevard saison brett. The cork shot out the second I touched it. And it poured a lot of head. But damn it was good.
