Local beer bar had some joseph James stuff on tap tonight to include a sour and a plum saison. Had never heard of them before but the sour was pretty good and the plum saison was damn good. Out of Henderson NV apparently

Has a successful day in Dallas. Lone Star Beverages is having a big event this weekend. Missed out on the Avery big-hitters buy about 20 minutes but ended up with JK Provenance Lemon Lime, Yellow Rose, Tallgrass Songbird Saison, Bruery Humulus, and Porterie which they said wasn't supposed to come to town. Also scored a Danish Metal which was the starting point for JK Black Metal, so I'm excited to try that out soon.

The other night I was in San Antonio and went to Southerleigh in the pearl district. Good food and good beer.

Had a Prince Oberyn's Head and a Ittie Biggie both were very enjoyable and got a growler of Prince Oberyn's Head that I finished off tonight.

If you're ever down there check it out.

Did a little Alchemist flight last night.

Focal Banger IPA didn't seem very well balanced.

Heady Topper was really good, but it is a little sweet for my taste. I could see wanting this from time to time as a change of pace.

Crusher was incredible. My top pick of the three.

I prefer Heady to Pliny buy they are very different so I would call it a personal preference and not that one is better than the other. Both are excellent.

I agree with Hudson, except that my personal preference is Pliny. If you like crisp, piney IPAs, then you probably prefer Pliny. If you prefer unfiltered, juicy IPAs, then you probably prefer Heady.

Both are great in their own way.

I don't see it lasting much past the opening line. The line is already wrapped all the way back to the new parking lot on the east side of JK according to facebook. Man the hype is getting unreal for this beer.

Southerleigh is pretty solid. I don't go as often as I'd like because it's a little pricey. I had an Odell Beyond IPA last night at Alamo Drafthouse. It was pretty good and supposedly only brewed for them.

IMO Atrial isn't even the best raspberry beer JK makes. I like La Vie en Rose better.
