Because there are relatively few craft breweries in Texas?

Because on the whole the Texas beer scene is relatively young compared to some of the other states putting out great sours. Also, sours are notoriously tough for a young brewery because there is so much that can go wrong along with taking a lot of time and resources to produce a well made sour. Texas weather doesn't exactly help that process along either unfortunately which leads to needing a lot more resources to produce batches of sour beer. There are a bunch of other reasons than those, but Texas is starting to come around in a few places. Collective is making some good ones in Fort Worth, and Deep Ellum is starting to expand into the sour realm as well with a few huge new foeders coming next month. It's just a matter of time here as the demand for them is still growing which feeds into the local breweries wanting to catch a piece of that market. Keep supporting their regular brews and they will eventually have the money and resources to grow into that.

That makes sense. I just wish I didn't have to bend over backwards to get a good sour beer in my home. Seeing Halia at Specs here in College Station was very encouraging.

There are some pretty solid sours in Texas that are available all the time... Rodenbach Grand Cru, Gueze Boon, Cuve Renee, Petrus, etc. can be picked up almost anywhere at almost anytime. Can't speak for CS specifically, but I'm sure they are around to some degree.

It sucks that we're having such a bad game, but I'm still really proud of these guys!

They're pretty much dead even after the half. Sucks when you blow it so bad in the first half that you can't come back.

Congrats! I watched the SEC Championship game in the hospital with my newborn.

I had a Texian Aurora at lunch. It was pretty good. When I looked it up on Untapped, it appears that some of the bottles have a diacetyl problem.

Pineapple Sculpin is good. Watermelon Dorado is terrible

I got a Watermelon Dorado in the fridge at home. Looking forward to seeing whether I hate it or not.

tried back pew satyr's swill (and have a half growler of 9th circle I haven't gotten into yet). thought it was pretty solid, nothing spectacular but not a ton of locals brewing a bock so I'll take it.

also tried spindle tap honey hole. didn't have very high expectations after hearing more than once that their blonde wasnt particularly good, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this one. I guess it's a honey infused esb. I'll definitely be picking up some more.

any thoughts on 11 below? I had a pint of 7 iron a while back and wasn't impressed, but I'm curious about their others. I tend to favor the more adventurous new breweries like back pew, but willing to give 11 below a shot if they've got anything decent since they're local
