Speaking of Sam Adams. Has anyone tried the new Longshot winners yet?
i picked up the longshot tonight, but not sure when i'll give them a try. already drinking belgians tonight.
Bought a 12 pack of Racer 5 for the first time last Friday. About 1/4 of the way though it and have enjoyed it thoroughly.
Also tried Old Guardian for the first time last weekend. Loved the intensity of it muchly.
Real Ale is beginning to can Firemans 4, another Texas canner (can't remember if it was already mentioned)
Received a box of west coast brews this week and tonight will try a bomber of Racer X from Bear Republic!
I got a job today, so I'm celebrating with a PBR tallboy. And before you all go putting down PBR, I think this is the only beer in the fridge that I'm allowed to drink.

I needed to wash down some local homebrew turned commercial with something. I choose the Hen. The stuff shops in a clear bottle so we all know what it looks like - medium copper color.
This is an alternative to a generic pilsner or lager. I wouldn't seek it out but it's not bad. One of these is enough.

I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch but I should get a few bottles from a buddy going tomorrow. I'm afraid my big mule might not get there in time, as he had something come up and can't get there til Saturday afternoon. I doubt there will be any left at that point.

Frothy, almost thick head - was not expecting!
Fairly Floral though balanced - with almost a sweetness that carry through the middle - Finish with mild hops that intensify some with time.

Well I have at least one bottle to try. I'm really hoping they have some tomorrow afternoon but after seeing a pic of the line my buddy sent, I'm not optimistic for having extras.

I see why they wanted to play with the pomegranate, it's almost too much, but the wood from the barrels really works to control the "sweetness" if you want to call it that.
Great mouthfeel leaves almost a creaminess on the finish
Bounces my palette around but not in confusion. It works.
As I continue the whiskey flavor starts to open up a bit, and become a bit more forward.
Great after dinner brew!

just popped open Derf's Secret Alt from the Longshot 6 pack. Its pretty good, but I definitely wasn't expecting a 9.3% beer from Sam Adams. nice and malty.

Hah. Yeah. Had the Munich lager on Wednesday, simply because it was the only one that wasn't huge. And I think it was still 5.3.
