Met the owners of New Republic at HEB Bunker Hill today and I just finished a bomber of Dammit Jim and it was a damn good amber. I don't usually drink Ambers but it puts St As to shame.
Bevo - that's good that you liked the beer. I'll give it another try. I want them to succeed but their offerings haven't been that good in the past, with the exception of Astrolabe. I have heard that they have tweaked their recipes and I did like the bottle of Kadigan I had a month ago.
This is really good. I've been very impressed with Deep Ellum beers
I've been working out at New Republic lately. We've been doing a lot of experimenting with recipes. We're doing some Astrolabe test batches and some other stuff. Should be interesting the next few months.
Had that deep ellum on tap last night. Really great beer

The Fanboy just didn't taste like a DIPA... had more of a Belgian-y taste to it.

I'm glad I didn't pick up the Fanboy then. I've spent way too much on beer lately! I'm having a Goatman tonight, pretty good black IPA.

It's not bad at all. However, at its price point Id probably be more likely to grab a sculpin or double jack. It's worth a try for sure.

Fanboy is fine if you don't go in expecting your normal DIPA because it tastes nothing like it. Unfortunately I didn't do that myself. The oak aging is prevalent. Can't remember what I related it to when I was drinking it (maybe DFH 75min).
Rumble and Burton Baton are the only oak aged IPAs I've had and liked them both. Maybe I'll give Fanboy a try after I get back in town.

It's definitely no Burton Baton that's for sure. That's one of my favorite beers of any style.

Yeah I thought the stone grapefruit was just decent. Not near as much grapefruit as I was expecting. Definitely much better stuff to be had at that price point
I see your Pliny the Elder and raise you a Pliny the Younger. Good times today along the Front Range. Visited a lot of breweries and bars. Capped it off at Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids and Solids with a Younger, Elder, and Blind Pig.
You know I had a blind pig for the first time last week at the younger tapping and think I might actually like it better than the elder
When I visited RRBC, Blind Pig was my favorite
Spadilly - I really liked the Stochasticity IPA.
