Green flash palate wrecker tonight followed up by a hellfighter later on. This platate wrecker reminds me a little of Myrcenary. Can't wait for Odell to get here later this year.

Did my best to have an "unbiased tasting" last night. Wasn't exactly perfect, but I think it turned out pretty well.

The carnage:

The results:
#1: The Dogfather: Not my #1 at all, but I was pouring and knew what I was drinking.
#2: 2013 FW Parabola (My #1 and what I brought)
#3: Espresso Oak Aged Yeti: Actually tied with the Parabola, but two very different beers.
#4: Boulevard Imperial Stout: The yeast made this a much different beer. Very "belgian-y"...
#5: 2013 Abyss: Little surprised by this one, but I get it.
#6: Old Dubh 16

I tried to get all my friends to bring barrel aged stouts that had a similar taste profile. Didn't exactly pan out, but it was still a fun time. The Old Dubh was kinda way out there (pretty sure it's classified as an old ale).

Next month... Double IPA's.

A little Sunday evening tasting:

FYI, for those not wanting to empty their cellar for the Proprietors. I tasted it side by side with a regular bcbs + french pressed toasted coconut. And the three of us prefered the homemade prop because it had a much stronger coconut flavor than the original

Got back from Breckenridge/Denver. Enjoyed plenty of Upslope, Hop Ranch, CS St Bretta & Renegade's triple IPA

My first RRBC beer. Pliny the Elder at Falling Rock.

Nice. Monday nights are pretty good for me right now as well. Next Monday will depend on how the Broncos do on Sunday. I will probably be taking the day off, along with 2/3 of the rest of the Colorado workforce, if the Broncos win.

Speaking of Pliny, the Younger hype train is picking up speed. Always a great beer surrounded by too much BS.

**** you for being able to fly out to enjoy the beer that some local who deserves it more would drink if people like you would just stay home and enjoy your ****ty TX beer scene.

If you haven't had Pliny the Younger by the 6th, you might as well pour it out. Turns into a total malt bomb after that.

I normally loathe whole foods and the total clustee those places are, however, the woman convinced me to go to the one at the domain last night. ~50 beers on tap meant i had a good time after downing a few flights.

Damn! Didn't think WF would have that many on tap. There's one planned in The Woodlands. Hopefully they take after that model. Especially since Hubbell & Hudson is closing and our beer guy moved to a growler place further in town.

Picked up some Kentucky Bourbon Ale today!

What did you think of it? I'm hearing that Texas distributors are now able to get it, so if you have a Spec's nearby, request it, and they should be able to fulfill on a regular basis. The College Station Spec's says they will be carrying it from now on...
