Stopped by cigar city and tried a dozen of their offerings. The Jai Alai was solid, as was the cubano style brown and guava sour. Good gourd was also tasty... close second to pumpkinator in the pumpkin beer category.

Having an Austin Beerworks Heavy Machinery wet hop IPA. Good, but I had Deschutes Fresh Squeezed first. I think the Deschutes was better.

Anything other than stroking each other's hogs over there is frowned upon ... I don't post much, sometimes it's just to goad the other guys on the southwest forum, but the moderators over there are crazy
went to HEB at parmer/mcneil to grab a couple things. walked out with only a 4 pack for breakfast stout and a couple bottles of pumkinator. not even sure why i got the pumkinator since i still have 2011 and 2012 bottles.

Went to trinity with a buddy today. We split an old growth Flemish. Was a fair to midland beer but at damn near 25 bucks for a bottle I'd expect a bit more.
Trinity has got a nice line up of sours but damn they are all pushing $20 or more.
I can get a real belgian sour for less than that.

Anybody want to recommend good sours that are available in Texas, specifically Austin? Reading online I've seen La Folie which I haven't found yet and Duchesse de Bourgogne which I have seen but haven't picked up yet. I need to head out to Jester King to pick up Boxers Revenge and RU55.

there are plenty belgian sours available at specs. Duchesse, liefmans, petrus, kasteel, etc...
for made in texas, yeh jester is one of the few that are making sours down there.

If you stumble across Rodenbach Grand Cru... Buy it. Outside of that... Anything that JK puts out will be solid. You can usually get wunderkind or salt lick if you look in the right places.

As someone who is starting to branch out into other beers, I'd definitely be interested in seeing some kind of aggregated list. Not sure how easy for feasible that would be though. Made a trip to the Smith Street Specs with a list culled from here. Found a few of them. Really like the Kona Pipeline. Haven't cracked open the Miles Davis *****es Brew or Brooklyn Local 2.

It's cool, but part of what I enjoy about homebrewing is the manual process or simplification by my own means. This takes away all of that, so while it is coll, I will pass.

This... It's gotten to a point where my local HEB beer guy will just call me when he gets something in. If I say I want it, he'll stash away a bottle or two until I get off work. Also, the beer/wine guys at HEB have the ability to get a decent amount of the "rarer" stuff in. Just keep harassing them about the beer you want.
And always take care of the people that take care of you. If you head out of town to some breweries that don't distribute here, bring your beer guy something back.
