Upon a second reading of your post, I see that. But cut me some slack, I've been at a bar all day!

Lol. I think it is easy for me to find out when stuff comes to town because I have befriended the beer guys at HEB and Specs, so they give me the heads up.

Is Cantillon sold in ATL package stores?

Figured I'd get involved w/ this thread.

Currently sipping on a Kickin' Chicken Bourbon Barrel from Santa Fe and it's 100% infected. A lactic sourness was noticeable immediately in the nose, and it's way too damn dry/tart for a barleywine. There are also very little bourbon notes that you'd come to expect.

I actually really like it, but I think this is the first time I've ever had an infected commercial beer (that wasn't intended obv).

Anybody else gotten infected beer?

I have three total. I am drinking one right now and will keep one for aging and the other to trade or age.

I have been told that specs is suppose to get more Thursday.

It does need some age. Kind of boozy.

Shop-wise, I only went to Hop City and I didn't see it there. I got this one at a bar from the cellar collection.

Any of you guys have a whiskey barrel rodeo you'd like to trade for some Russian river stuff or things from my cellar?

Damn. You leave for a few days to move and the beer thread blows up. I never saw any Whiskey Rodeo. Have a bottle of weasel and a bottle geek.

Set up the beer cabinet in the new house today. Finally, no longer digging through the crawl space for beer...

And tonight's beverage:

ncolorado,

I am heading to Jester King and then the pizza place down the road that sells their bottle beers so if there is anything you would like me to pick up let me know. I dont think whiskey barrel rodeo is available right now. I have a bottle of the weasel rodeo

I'm going to be in Denver next week for a bike show and wanted to do some tasting. I'll probably be confined to the Denver Convention Center area if I don't rent a car. Any suggestions of bars or restaurants nearby? My fiance will probably be out searching for beers, so a store like Spec's would be nice too.

Army, as a heads up, you might want to check the label on your Stoic. I believe the ones from last year have a best by date on them, not a best after like the other reserves from Deschutes.

dave,

What days are you going to be in Denver? My wife and I are heading up there next week as well and plan on hitting up a couple breweries and finding some stuff to bring home.

I'll be there from Thursday to Monday for the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. The show is all day on Fri - Sun, so I probably won't get to see much of Denver. I know my fiance doesn't want to watch me work all day, so she's going to explore and find beer to bring home.

From what I've researched (and the Denver folks feel free to correct me), your best bet would be to make it over to the area around Coors Field. There's Breckenridge & Great Divide within 3/4 block radius as far as breweries go. Falling Rock Tap House is over there as well and seems to be go to as far as bars go for beer. Also, Mrs. B's Wine & Spirts is over there and gets good reviews. It's not a giant store a la Spec's, but does seem to be pretty well curated from what I've read.

La Fours-

Thanks for the heads up...hoping it still aged well. At 11%, I am guesing that it will be okay, just might be a little sweeter than usual.

There's a good chance that it, along with a couple of Jester King sours disappear this weekend.

Thanks. I'm looking for that specific bottle. I don't think it's been released in a year or so.

Dave99, txag05 hit some good ones. Definitely go see Scott at Mr Bs. It's worth the walk. Tell Scott that Adam sent you.

There's lots of other great places down there. Don't eat at falling rock as there are way better places for food. Falling Rock has a lot of beer, but just be prepared for a different brand of service. My favorite spot is Freshcraft. Good cuisine and phenomenal beer at a good price. Check their Facebook page as they often have great beer dinners. Lucky Pie is also a good spot for pizza and a brew. It's a bit on the expensive side. Euclid Hall is fun as well. It's in lodo so you could go to Great Divide and River North before or after a meal. As for a big store, go to Argonaut. It's on colfax about 10 blocks east of the convention center. Theyll have a good, fresh selection of all our good stuff, along with whatever limited releases are out. There's also a good bar over there as well called the cheeky monk. They have more of a Belgian theme.

There will be tappings of Pliny the Younger while you're hear too. Suspects being Falling Rock, Freshcraft, Vine Street Pub, Euclid Hall, Lucky Pie, and the Cheeky monk.

And I can't in good faith make this post with out recommending snagging a cab up to Crooked Stave. If you like sour beers its worth the short trip up there (I70 & Pecos)
