Outside of the Voodoo, I've been a big fan of Rogue. The Double Dead Guy was awesome. Drinking the entire Dead Guy growler, however, was not.

That is a Visionary brew from 2011. Also have Snomaggedon and BBAWW from 2011 and 2012.

Merry Christmas y'all.
I'm going with St A Christmas tonight at the in-law family gathering, and I'll crack open my Fra-gee-lay tomorrow.

Had No Label's 1st Street Ale out there Saturday, not a bad one. Really love the Elda M though, probably my favorite brew of theirs.

I picked up a Frageelay and another Black Ops at Petrol last night so I might take down one of those tonight. I'll be heading to Black Lab for some British drink first.

That's what I'm having, but apparently, I'm the only one in town without a FraGeeLay for tomorrow.=( That's ok though...got plenty of Winter Warmer Bourbon Barrel yesterday...=)

Also just found a bottle of Heartland Brewery's 2011 Christmas brew in the back on the fridge, so it's on the list for tomorrow as well. (My sister snagged it for me last year when she was up in NYC)

Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait, stop right there. Listen. Stop right there a minute. A man goes into a restaurant. You listenin'? A man goes into a restaurant. He sits down, he's havin' a bowl of soup. He says to the waiter; "Waiter, come taste the soup." Waiter says; "Is there something wrong with the soup?" He says; "Taste the soup." He says; "Is there something wrong with the soup? Is the soup too hot?" He says; "Will you taste the soup?", "What's wrong is the soup to cold?", "Will you just taste the soup?", "All right, I'll taste the soup. Where's the spoon?",

"Ah-ha! Ah-ha!"

Jetch- how does one go about getting a bottle of Dark Lord. My brother and I were thinking about taking a trip to Chicago but what do we need to do to get tickets for Dark Lord Day?

the gf is back in wisconsin, outside of another shipment of New Glarus, is there anything else anyone can think of that I should have her send back?

BSD went to DLD last year and was kind enough to hook it up. The key to getting tickets is to be ready the day they go on sale because as BSD and I saw last year they basically sell out instantaneously.

BSD had a good review and pics of DLD on this thread (lord knows what page) but he can shed some light as he is the beer baller

OO, I'd have her bring back some Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Stout or Kosmyck Charlie's Barleywine if you're into either style. She would also have access to the normal Three Floyd's beers like Dreadnaught, Alpha King, and Gumbalhead. And you've also got the Founders lineup available in WI. Can't go wrong with Founders Breakfast Stout and their All Day and Centennial Pale Ales. Lastly, if you've never had it, I'd have her get some Bells Two Hearted Ale (hopefully it'd be fresh) and/or Expedition Stout.

Streetfighter,

Dark Lord Day takes place at the 3 Floyds brewery on the last Saturday of April (I'm pretty sure that's the date).  Tickets go on sale around St Patricks day.  Like Jetch said, they sell out just as soon as they go on sale.  I got lucky and was able to get two.  My Chicago friends had to buy theirs on eBay.

There are 3 groups, A, B, and C.  The difference in groups is the 2 hour window when you can actually get your Dark Lord.  Each person gets 4 bottles of Dark Lord and a scratch off lottery ticket to get the opportunity to buy  a vanilla or bourbon barrel aged Dark Lord.  All tickets can enter the party at any time, though.  There are food vendors, beer stands, guest taps, and a merch table that will sell to go bottles too. There is nice, soothing live music that will please just about anybody on earth.

I had such a good time that I'll probably go again this year.  A few pics are on page 67.  If you have any questions, let me know.

And NCol, I may see you up there. We are leaning towards going but just need to make sure the logistics of the kiddo are taken care of.

Tonight's pre-dinner beer was a Pliny, followed by an Old Speckled Hen and Hoffbrau Hefe at dinner (British restaurant). For Santa-time tonight, I had to go with Frageelay.

Merry Christmas to you all. I hope you enjoy the time you spend with your loved ones and I look forward to seeing the beer selections this week.

anyone had Shiner FM 966 yet? I picked one up today, but i'm not sure I want to pop it open now, b/c I've had a number of beers already. Not sure I'd give it a fair shake. I don't have many expectations since I'm not a big fan of Shiner's brews overall.

Merry Christmas, Beer Thread'ers. Drinking a growler of LB Brewing Oatmeal Stout. A good friend is in his last year at KU law and brought this back on his way home. This is a fantastic stout. I'm really impressed. If you're ever in Hays, KS, I hear its a great stop.

That beast in the background just went in the oven.

For all those soo excited about their Fra-gee-lay let it be known that those of us that picked up Rahr's Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer are the WINNERS.

army, thanks for the clarification on the tan Rahr bottle, didn't get any last year.

For the poster with the Lenny's ... you got you so good stuff there, probably the best brew that Schmaltz makes.

Today's first and second round ...

That's a big statement Marooned. The Fra-Gee-Lay is pretty damn awesome. I haven't had the Rahr yet. JR Ewing has a bottle for me whenever I can come by his house and pick it up.
