I really like the tile choice. I can't wait to see it all come together. I would love to do something like, however I would not be able to build the cabinets. I would have to buy all of that or I would need to paint the cabinets and put in new doors and drawer fronts. Even that sounds like a lot of work.

Cabinets and drawers are sanded to 220 and ready for paint tomorrow.

The countertop's and shelves' oil clear coat was sanded to 220, then got two coats of the water based applied by the HVLP with another 220 sanding in between those. Tomorrow it will get a 320 standing, another coat of clear, followed by a 400 sanding and the final clear coat.

So tomorrow is going to be a bit of musical chairs with everything that is getting painted due to the Walnut elements can't be drying in the same area as the cabinets when they are getting sprayed due to the overspray. It needs to get done though because I want to paint the shiplap Saturday and install the rest of the ceiling and all the molding in the room, but i need the compressor available for trim work. That should leave Sunday for installation of everything except the bathtub surround.

Cabinets and countertop were painted Friday night, the room painted yesterday, so that means today is installation day. Got the cabinets in this morning!

Sorry for the lack of updates. Our 20 mo decided she wanted to completely change her sleeping schedule so between that and Easter, not a lot of work got done over the past couple weeks. But I would like to thank the Dallas Stars for royally p****** me off that I spent quite a few hours Monday night, into Tuesday morning, finishing up all the electrical, getting all the trim installed, and started on the plumbing fixtures. The correct doors finally came in and those got painted last night. With such a late puck drop tonight, that is that much later I will be working into the night, I should have all the molding caulked and painted, touch up paint on the walls completed, the doors and drawers installed, and the rest of the plumbing fixtures done. This would put me at a complete bathroom, with the exception of the tub surround. Gary I really hope I dont make it to 79 days, but who knows.

Yikes. The shoe moulding around the vanity looks like fun.

Looking really good.

Well, that was worth the wait. It is really looking good.

Sorry about the wee bairn and the sleep schedule but am not too sorry because in the blink of an eye you'll be taking senior pics and wonder where the time went.

You may have already addressed this, but I can't find it. What design program do you use? I will be doing some very minor work on the house and really need help with the visualization.

Bobcat, I use Sketchup 2017. Its their last release that is a program you can install on your computer. Starting in 2018, they moved to a web based program. It works fine when you are just starting your model, but as your model gets more complex, it really lags. I am really into the visual as well which is why I have detailed my house model so thoroughly. A normal architectural model of a whole house is going to be around 20 MB but my house model is pushing 500 MB, so the web based program was not an option.

Here is the progress from last night. Got all the mouldings caulked but by the time it was paint ready, I had had enough so I will take care of the painting tonight. On the vanity, all the drawers and hardware got installed and I was able to install the faucets.

Both vanities have a step built in for when the little one is big enough to start using it. Went ahead and put the step in both vanities just in case we decide to have another one, or when her cousins or friends are over and there are multiple kids in the house. The slides are King Slides and are rated for 200 lbs so that wont be an issue.

When I first installed the sink and drain, they were nice and centered in the leave out so I figured I had plenty of room with the drawer. Turns out, I have less than a 1/4" before I ran into some serious issues.

Toilet and mirrors will get installed tonight along with the moulding painting, and then I will hopefully be able to take a weekend off from this project.

Is their a small screen under the A/C register? I can see it now, somebody dropping something important in there because it fell off the counter and you spend a couple of hours trying to fish it out of your A/C vent.

Don't know if their is a way to mount some fine mesh that will allow air to pass through but not a ring or earring.

Contact lens would be my luck...

Nice work, AggieFactor! Really have enjoyed all of your remodels. My favorites are the countertops and the tile. Really a nice combination of cool and warm design elements that makes it look inviting.

I spied your 'helper' in one of the middle pics. Or maybe your canine friend is the chief inspector of all work.

Got a 90% complete and functional bathroom. Shower tiling and grouting will take place over the next few days and then this one is a wrap.

Very very nice .

Where did you get those shelf brackets above the toilet?

It looks wonderful and as I said before, I really like the tile and wood and all the storage you built.

Thanks for being good natured about the ribbing you get and for taking the time to post your pics and updates. Really makes for a top notch thread!

ARCH, those are just 6" corner bracing that you can find with decking materials at Lowes or Home Depot. They just got a coat of flat black spray paint. The shelving is light enough that if not too worried about them bending out.

Frickin love the stuff. So easy to handle compared to cement board/redguard or drywall/membrane. Was actually hoping to use Laticrete's foamboard because theirs uses standard drywall screws and you can waterproof the seams with their version of Kerdifix.

OP, where did you source those shelf brackets? How beefy are they in terms of load capacity on the 2x8 shelves?

Here is a link to the ones I puchased. Don't know if HD's are any different.

Here is a close up of the assembly. I couldnt find any pan head black screws but found these automotive plugs in Lowe's hardware section that gave the look I was going for. They hold well enough to support what ever you put on the shelf but will come out immediately if body weight is applied. Still trying to decide if it is safer that way of not, i.e. have the shelf collapse immediately if a kid tries to climb it, or have the shelf hold only for a kid to get half way up and then the kid fall off.

Also took y'alls advice on the vent issue. Found a screen patching kit that worked perfectly.

I may have to revisit your kitchen remodel thread now that you've done the two bathrooms or I will go into withdrawal. You have really done a great job with your home. If you haven't redone all the landscaping already, give us a heads up when you do so I can look for that thread!

Smart to add that screen, that may save a lot of time in the long run.

I need to remodel my bathtub / shower and estimates so far I have not been pleased with.

Can not do it myself, not as talented nor knowledgeable as you. It's the only bathroom in the house so I can not be without one for days and months on end.

Any advice on places that I could hire out? Spring/Woodlands area.

I have only received 2 estimates so far.

Get normal panhead screws and just paint them black.

atm2004, you aint lying. I have started to look back at the other bathroom renovation and really appreciate my wife living at her parents a couple extra weeks after the initial start-up. It didnt seem like much at the time, but with her and the little one in the house, I really havent been able to start on the bathroom work until at least 9-930 every night, versus 530-6 when they were out of the house. Mix that in with this project taking place around my birthday, Easter, and now Mother's Day, it just seems like something is always pulling me away from it and this thing has drug on WAY past even my most conservative estimates.

Tiling the shower has been painfully slow. To do this installation properly, I am having to back butter all the tiles to make sure I get proper coverage versus the 3x6 tiles that I can just stick on the wall. Pretty much tripling the time spent. Started tiling last Thursday but had to take the weekend off. Definitely over tiling at this point so have basically decided that I am not going to sleep tonight until the wall with the showerhead is done and this whole thing is ready for grout.

I know exactly how you feel. I have 3 ranging in age from 6 to 6 months, and it seems like I only get to do anything I want/need to do after all are asleep, and truth be told, it's quite easy to say 'tomorrow" when that time comes. We moved into our house a year ago and I planned on turning the room on the back (it's an oversized garage with a finished room on the back) into a home gym, but I haven't been able to get around to it. Well, I went out and bought a spin bike for the wife and a power rack and weights for me, so I have no choice but to finally get off my butt and get it cleaned out, which I did last weekend. All that's left is to rip out the carpet, which I'm going to do Thursday and Friday since trash is Saturday.
