I had a set of those on my mostly offroad 4runner as license plate lights. Do they come with a transformer or are you using landscape wiring?

i bought a Malibu Lighting kit for the flood lights and transformer.

I plan to use that 300W transformer to run the 4 spot lights and 3 of the LED lights for the front of main part of kitchen.

I also bought an 88W transformer to go in my island to power the 4th LED light going on the front of the island.

Well I didnt realize the LED's are 12VDC and the spot lights are 12VAC, so I have to get a 120VAC to 12VDC converter before the LED's are installed. But of course I havent gotten a shipping notification yet for the LED's and have tried calling multiple times but no answer.

I got the electrical roughed in and hardy board cut for the bottom of the frames. The hardy shown on top is actually going to be installed below the frame.

Here are some updated pictures:

Hopefully I can get to the side hardy board this weekend also.

Didnt get as far as I wanted to but did finish the hardy on the island and started on the right hand side of the main part...

Looks good so far. Great Job. Not quit understanding what you are planing on doing with the hardy on top of the framing.

The hardy on the top was only to make sure it fit where it needed to on the bottom. I am using 1/2" hardy for the floor in the cabinets. The ones on top in the last pic are actually only used as covers right now since it is supposed to rain. With the bottom hardy installed, if it rained, the water would collect and I am trying to avoid that by putting something to cover the sides and top.

what goes over the hardy board exterior?

I am using the following diagram (minus the sheathing) as far as what is to be installed.

The stone I will be applying will be similar to this:

This limestone color of stone will tie in the kitchen with the other landscape by matching the flower bed stones

Olag, you can actually skip straight to the mortar set bed for the stone since you used hardi backer. In fact, if you tried to use a metal lath and scratch coat, it might be too heavy for hardi backer. The diagram is actually showing plywood sheathing with a tyvek wrap type vapor barrier. Since the hardi backer is actually a concrete type material and you don't need a vapor barrier, you don't need the metal lathe with felt paper backing.

I have heard not putting the metal lathe has come down from the DIY field, however from professional installations consist of the metal lathe. I also called the manufacturer to get their take and it voids the manufacturer warranty if the lathe is not installed. It looks like I will be installing the lathe.

There is just not enough sun light after work to get a lot done but here are the latest. I talked to some people that have done this before and they warned me to take the protective film off the doors if they will be in sunlight because the sun will make the peeling off much harder. When I start the veneer I plan to put a towel around each door to protect it during the veneer installation.

Also I had to relocate the far outlet in this photo. This outlet is going to be used for the rotisserie motor on the grill. I had the outlet "inside" the cabinets and would have had to drill a hole through the concrete counters and that would negate the weather tightness I am looking for. So I rotated the outlet so it is on the outside and will only be used when the rotisserie is being used since the motor can be taken off and on as needed.

I'm getting tired of waiting. If you aren't done by saturday, buy a case or two of beer and post your address here in this thread.

Me too powerbiscuit, however this weekend, I have some reinforcements coming in this weekend so if they cant get the job done I will take you up on your offer.

Last night my rotozip broke, luckily I paid 19.95 for the warranty at Lowes. This will be the third rotozip during this patio project. They dont ask questions, just replace it.

Olag, the wife and I are very impressed with your project. We are looking at doing a flagstone patio as well. No kitchen, but a firepit and possible water feature. Great work.

JohnnyShotgun, let me know if you have any questions and I can try to help you out. It is tough but it is satisfying to get it done. I cant wait until I can cook the first steak on the new grill.

Here are the latest pics and I am essentially done with the hardy board. Now trying to locate stone veneer.

The last pic is almost exactly like I had designed it.

Since it was a football weekend, not much was done as I was tailgating and at the game. However, I did go buy all the material needed for the stone veneer and got some of the metal lathe installed, then it started raining and put my progress on hold.

Yep, but they're always welcome

Now I just need Hermine to go away so it can dry out a bit and I can get back to work.

With it finally drying out from Hermine, I was able to get the mesh installed. I am not quite through putting in all the screws but am about half done. It is a pain to do this with a battery operated drill. I have two 18V batteries and they cant keep up with all the drilling, that was the only reason I am not out there now. So far I have gone through 3 boxes of 200 screws and today bought a box of 800.

I still need to trim the mesh around some of the openings but I cant until I get put all the screws in.

Hopefully, with the batteries cooperating, I can put the scratch coat on tomorrow evening and begin veneering Sunday.

This has been neat to watch. I've got to say that you must be a very patient man. Are you married? Then your wife must be very patient, too - either that or she has done lots of shoe shopping and gotten many pedicures during this project!!
Olag00
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am not married but do have a live in girlfriend right now. She has been coming up with other projects while I have been doing the patio. I am doing wainscoting in the office, wiring a home theater setup, and then you have all the regular house chores on top of that like mowing and weedeating.

I am not sure I am that patient. I can not wait until this thing is done but every time I think I am making progress, I think of something else that needs to be done. Like today I had to wire another outlet inside the main cabinets in order to power the LEDs. Today I also put backer board inside where the fridge is and inside the cabinets in order to animal proof them. Some, if not most of the work now is small stuff that cant be shown in the photos so it may not look like a lot is going on.

In this one you can see the backer board in the fridge area.

I still have to put some expanding foam and silicon in some areas to fill in the gaps between hardy board and the holes in the metal studs to try and close up the cabinets to insects.

Current state:

I have also made a check list to start finalizing the build. My goal is to be complete (maybe not with the concrete counters) by the Oklahoma state game.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have a photo of the first scratch coat going over the front of the kitchen.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I started the scratch coat tonight. I got two sides of the small island completed and had a little mortar left but decided it wasnt worth continuing due to the sunlight and it wouldnt have been enough to cover the whole side.

Here is the first side with scratch coat:

The front:

And to show the side I still need to do:

Can't wait to see the finished product!!

So it doesnt look like it takes long to make progress with the scratch coat, but I can only get one 80 pound bag of mortar mixed and spread after work.

Tonight I finished the small island and did the small area next to the fridge. Earlier I had mentioned taking the protective film off the doors due to it being difficult to remove after it sits in the heat. Well I think I would either take the doors off or leave the film on until after all the mortar has been applied. I am really hoping the door didnt get scratched or have mortar dried on it after I remove the tape.

I may try removing the doors on the main cabinet areas and see if that makes it easier. The only reason I left them in, is thinking the thickness of the mortar would make it more difficult to screw the doors into the metal studs. I guess we will find out tomorrow.

The mortar requires 48 hours of cure time before applying the stone veneer so theoretically I could start putting the veneer up tomorrow on the front and right side of the small island but I am going to cover all the front before starting the veneer.

Here are the pics:

Looking good

Just remove the doors if you can. If you don't, you'll regret it once a towel or piece of stone leaves a big scratch along the face of the stainless.

or tape some cardboard over it
Olag00
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think I will probably do the cardboard idea after I install the doors once the mortar has dried to avoid the veneer from scratching the stainless.

This time I took the doors off and this is definitely the way to go. It took me a while to get the tape off the one I installed last night. It might not be too bad if the tape is removed the day the mortar is applied but it is a pain after it dries.

I think tomorrow I should finish the front of the cabinets and I can start putting up the veneer Friday night. I plan to stucco the back with the One Coat Fiberglass
Reinforced Stucco by Quikrete
which is the left most product on the pdf.

I don't really need it to look good since it will rarely be seen but it saves the time of having to do multiple coats for the stucco texture.

Here are the latest pictures and I think the coat of mortar helps create the image of it finally being one unit instead of seeing masonry then hardy board.

And here is what the door looks like after a little time removing the tape.

1) Get married, so you'll have somebody to use that kitchen!

2) I have 4 little kids. I remember once I spent more than 30 minutes on yard work. I got yelled at to come inside. Spraying Round-up is my favorite outdoor project.
