Rory said he doesn't wear the hats because they don't fit. He said he has a really small head. On NLU earlier this year he said they changed the hat and he'd be wearing it this year.

Yeah. This was the pairing that ZJ was ripped for not putting out yesterday (including me).

Captains make a difference on the margins but it starts with the players. Our guys just aren't playing well from top to bottom. When that happens, I'm not sure there's anything you can do. Sucks for us though.

Yes, I know why Rory hasn't in the past. I thought he had one this year, but couldn't remember.

My point was not wearing a hat isn't unheard of. Maybe Cantlay has his own little protest going or maybe it means nothing.

It was just my thinking bc of Brooks personality.

I think Woods back in the day might have even had issues at times in this format. Great at singles and playing 4 ball but alternating, not as much.

As an Army Officer I believe I can say based on my experience abroad, that most other cultures values are totally different than ours. America is very egocentric.

One analogy I can of think of is mercenary vs unit mentality. But I think that has gone away, our team seems very together.....unless the Cant & X stuff is true.

This is no doubt true but I think we'll always deal with this to some extent. America is the big dog and people relish the chance to knock us down a peg. That's partly why Euros grow up dreaming of Ryder Cup victories and why Americans don't.

They should act like a team. When the Ryder Cup is in the US, the fans treat it like the 4th of July and really rally behind the team.

These rich golfers can at least fake the funk instead of complaining about money.

Their dominance started when continental Europe was added to the team in '79. Back in the mid 80's, Ballesteros, Langer added a ton of punch to the team, followed by Olazabal.

The match that lit the team fire for Europe was Seve. He got tired of watching their butts get handed to them.
He is the one that inspired this run of dominance.

Jack Nicklaus suggested adding Europe in the mid to late 70's.

Until 1973, the Ryder Cup was the US v Britain. Ireland was added in that year and expanded to all of Europe in 1979. Since then, Europe is 11-9 over us. That gap will continue to narrow.
