No idea why Clark is sitting.

Putting Spieth in foursomes is a bold move.beerad12man said:

He may have choked on 18, but he still played much better than Spieth overall.bagger05 said:I would've said the same until he choked on 18.beerad12man said:

They are wasting Harman this weekend. There was a chance to pair him with a big hitter like Scheffler or Koepka, where his game would complement theirs very well. Instead they are trotting him out there with Homa again.
he already did. time change and all...JCA1 said:

Fair point. I should have said "I will get to watch him have a field day tonight on Golf Channel when I get home from work."AustinCountyAg said:he already did. time change and all...JCA1 said:

Not terrible, but switch Burns with JT. I'm playing him both rounds tomorrow.Bunk Moreland said:Hubert J. Farnsworth said:

YEP. I think this would be my choice tomorrow morning:
Koepka/Harman
Scheffler/Homa
Cantlay/Xander
Clark/Burns(and pray he putts)
Morikawa had an awful year putting, Rickie I don't trust, JT/Spieth i don't trust in that format.

Agreed. If we don't win 6 points tomorrow we are toast. TTYTT the toaster is fairly warm right now.Hubert J. Farnsworth said:beerad12man said:

That lineup reeks of "this was our plan for Saturday and we are sticking with it".
Wow, no Allegra over there?cb1919 said:

That's weak sauce. Even if true, you can't say that out loud.cb1919 said:

Burns needs to sit until singles
Agreed. After we lost the first session 4-0, my goal has been to get to 9-7 by singles play. So IMO we need 5.5 points tomorrow to give ourselves a realistic chance.CyclingAg82 said:

I have been looking forward to this event for two years, massive disappointment- but it is still the best event in golf and one of the best in Sports.
And the Italians did a great job in setting up the event and how they have executed. First class all the way.

Good and thoughtful analysis, and completely agree on Cantlay & Schauffele.Deluxe said:Agreed. After we lost the first session 4-0, my goal has been to get to 9-7 by singles play. So IMO we need 5.5 points tomorrow to give ourselves a realistic chance.CyclingAg82 said:

What a kick in the nuts today was. The foursomes matches were basically over on the front nine. We continue to show zero ability to counter-punch in foursomes in Euro-hosted Ryder Cup.
We have one partnership on the roster that has won a foursomes match on Euro soil (Spieth/JT). For some reason they sat this morning. I thought maybe there was a deeper reason Burns was picked and that we weren't shallow enough to take him just so he could play with his buddy Scottie. Nope.
The biggest disappointment of the morning was Xander/Cantlay though. To me, they were our best answer to the question "what's different about the 2023 team relative to 2018 and 2014 in terms of ability to win foursomes matches in Europe".
I was so proud of JT, Brooks, Scottie, Max and Wyndham (even Spieth on the front) for punching back in the afternoon. They sacked up and would have won the session if not for a few good breaks for the Euros. Another kick in the nuts though.
Anyway, we gotta split foursomes tomorrow morning at the very least and then hope we can get hot in the afternoon.
I like JT/Spieth leading us out. IMO Rickie should be on standby to play four ball with JT in the afternoon if Spieth plays like he did on the back nine today.
As long as Brooks/Scottie don't look awful early, they should be playing 36 together tomorrow no matter what. We don't have the luxury of worrying about Scottie playing all five sessions. He's gotta be out there.
Totally agree with previous posters about Wyndham. He and Max played nicely together this afternoon and I thought we'd see them together tomorrow morning.
Xander/Cantlay HAVE to win their match. HAVE to. It's almost impossible for me to imagine us winning with those two having a losing record.
The script can flip quickly. If we can just apply some pressure, you never know how the Euros will react. Tip of the cap for all their chip ins and long putts holed down the stretch today. If we can get deep into the afternoon tomorrow with 9-7 or even 8-8 within sight, could be a whole new ballgame.
