Koepka, Scheffler, and Thomas are really the only ones who've played well. Clark would've been in that group but man that was a brutal choke job on 18.

Gotta hope that someone unexpectedly turns it around tomorrow.

The US team deserves to be bashed by the media for playing very little tournament golf heading into this thing like the Euro's did. Who in the hell, on the US side, thought that was a good idea?

Then move it to the week or 2 after the Tour Championship.

It burned us today but Homa and Clark on 18 are everything great about the modern Ryder Cup. US Open winner (peak of pressure) chokes all over the hole. Homa after missing. Money in these situations absolutely doesn't matter and this shows it. So much fun to watch.

And 0% chance Rose missed that. None. Awesome.

More players in tournament shape.

I don't know how much to make of that personally. They always follow the same schedule and killed them 2 years ago. Now Europe plays the BMW and everyone acts like that's the solution. Who knows. Guys were just on fire today.

McGinley just went at them for that.

The US guys could've played tournaments before the Ryder Cup.

Playing tournaments aside, we couldn't even get the whole team to travel for the practice trip. Bachelor parties got in the way.

Right but chose not to. Moving it would "force" them to have played recently

The American players(outside Koepka) could have been over there last week playing in the BMW. That's on them.

He made that point last night and he's being proven right.

There is a huge difference in the Americans being prepared for that course, the way it was set up for them, and being prepared to go play in Europe.

If they cant decide upon themselves to get in tournament shape and need a schedule change to force that upon them then thats pretty ****ty and lazy in its own right.

It is called having pride and caring. And frankly as much as the Americans want to rah rah about the ryder cup and say how much of a big deal it is to them there actions speak otherwise.

Stricker is a cheesehead and had that place set up to his team's strengths. Everyone knows how much Wisconsin means to Stricker and you can bet that feeling was reflected to the players.

Well add that to the list for task force- all players must play tournament golf at least 2 weeks prior or yiu forfeit your spot to the next guy.

Not playing in tournaments prior to the cup is going to get over played, but Rahm didn't chip in 5 times and make a bomb eagle on 18 because he played in the BMW. These guys are the best golfers in the world, the whole "rust" thing is a little silly.

To me, it's more about buy in. The Europeans deeply deeply care about the Ryder Cup. As I said in a previous comment, we had guys skip the trip to Rome with the team to practice for a bachelor party. Getting the team together to play in Napa before the Ryder Cup is just too obvious. We don't have a team that would do it.

On top of that, the Europeans rise to the moment and the US shrinks in the moment. Before Max and Rose putted on 18, I thought s*** another tie. I don't know how to fix that.

I was thinking something similar. I think to make the US team in years where the cup is overseas, it should be a requirement to play a certain amount of tournaments in Europe. The Euro's dominate us on those slower greens over there and the only way to get better at them is to play them more often. Add in there what you said about playing a week or two before the cup.

The next overseas Ryder Cup is in Ireland. There are plenty of events in the UK these guys can play.

9 of Europe's 12 were top 20 at the BMW last weekend. 7 of them were top ten and 3 of them were top 5. They came in playing well and looked sharp today while the Americans looked sluggish and slow to get going. You can't tell me that rust isn't a factor. JT and Koepka were 2 of America's best today and they both played last weekend. I highly doubt had Rahm sat out a month, after a mediocre finish to the season, that he goes on a heater like that.

Brooks not playing the morning session tells you all you need to know about ZJ as captain.

US will win at Bethpage in 2025, but then it'll be back to these ass kickings in 2027 come Ireland.

Yes, the 12 best European players finished well in a tournament of Europeans.

Look I am not saying it doesn't mean anything to get tournament reps ahead of the Ryder Cup. I just think the story line is going to get overplayed. To me, the biggest thing is all the Europeans did it and almost none of the US guys did. Like they said on the broadcast, the US guys would never go into a major with that much time off.

underrated post. You can bet your ass Brooks/LIV came into Zach's mind in regards to sitting him. So stupid.

I think the rust is a real issue, but I think you are 100% spot on regarding the culture of the Ryder Cup. European golfers grow up dreaming of playing in the Ryder Cup and consider it a major-worthy event. I don't think that's the case at all for American golfers. We have to hold it in the same esteem as they do in order to turn things around.

The courses and setup in Europe is a big advantage. The majority of the European players live in the US but still play some international events. These courses (Le Golf National and Marco Simone) are not on any US players radar. I'm not sure you could pick a course in the US that would give a similar advantage for us. Like others have said, Team USA members can't be bothered to travel abroad and play the courses.

Well which is it? How is it overplayed when it's telling that the Euro's all played and came in sharp while the Americans didn't?

Saturday morning going with:

JT / Spieth

Scheffler / Koepka

Homa / Harman

Cantlay / Schauffele

No idea why Clark is sitting.

Pretty sure several of the Euro guys have not only played tournament golf at Marco Simone, but have placed high and/or won there. They definitely have a familiarity with the course we don't. But, at the end of the day, that's mostly on us.
