I have a good friend whose been working on the legal team representing the tour in the LIV lawsuit. He said they all found out via the CNBC article also.

I figure that the Saudis were pushing hard for the merger. LIV made news, but no one watched it. By merging with the PGA, they can actually get their message out to people.
