For those up around Dallas, Frisco, Plano, which is a ton of us. The new PGA headquarters and Golf Couse costs are out.

The new Club is called 1916. Membership initiation fee is $130,000, no wait, there is a discount if you live in Frisco, the initiation is only $120,000 for residents!!!

Dues will be 1,000 per month, assuming that is no food, club storage, locker room, cart fees, or any other things they can tack on.

Green Fee's for the Fields course where the PGA will be played will be 250 to 400 per round.

The other course will be priced 125 to 250.

Thanks PGA for making Golf affordable for everyone!

I actually wanted to Join, I live less than a mile away, but I will stick to the Golf course I live on... I was ready to pay a chunk of money, but think I will pass.

Q LOL for the poor's posters coming in 3, 2, 1...

My guess is they will fill at that number. I know they're going to be pretty accessible facilities wise, but sounds like they're keeping the riff raff off the big money course.

It's me. I'm the riff raff.

A number of DFW clubs are in that range or higher. This project was intended to bring championship golf to Texas, so the price is going to reflect that.

From avidgolfer's 2022 club rankings:

Is there a private only course or do you pay that much for membership and still have all the daily fee traffic playing your course every day?

That's not surprising at all. I'd wait a couple years after we hit this economic wall. I talked to the VP of membership for ClubCorp and he said they're already seeing a pull back. Granted ClubCorp isn't top tier but golf will have a reset.

I got to play Fields Ranch West last fall. Nothing was built except the PGA headquarters, courses and practice facilities. It looks like it will be an awesome stay and play destination with several villas overlooking the practice area and short course. The west course was immaculate. I've never played a course that well manicured. But I also can't fathom spending that much on a golf membership much less one that appears will be semi private.

I was able to play Fields Ranch East last October on a preview day thanks to connections my sister had. Pretty fun course to play. Big runoff areas around most of the greens. I hit 4 or 5 approach shots that I thought were good that just kept rolling and rolling and rolling....

Look forward to the Sr PGA there in May.

At $400/round it's priced to keep it fairly private still. I'm a member of Golf Clubs at the Tribute and we don't have a lot of guests playing Old American because the Saturday green fee is pretty steep.
Below $200 but still.

For the OP, what did you think the membership would be? I was expecting a $200k initiation fee and much more than $1,000/month dues.

There is an Omni Hotel on-site, and The Fields nearby will have. Ritz-Carlton on it. This course and area will have people coming in from around the country and world to play the course.

And for people who can pay $130k initiation fees, the economy won't be causing any pull back like normal courses.

No. It's from AvidGolfer which is a DFW based publication.

Royal Oaks is where Scheffler, Leonard, and Knost all played as kids right?

Knost is from Pilot Point. Not sure where he grew up playing but royal oaks would be a very long drive.

I guess Golf Clubs at The Tribute (includes Old American) isn't listed because they aren't fully private given the land is owned by the corps of engineers.

However, for the dollar and the courses, I think it's one of the best value golf clubs in the area. If you want a full country club it's not for you though.

Colt also worked with Randy Smith, out of Royal Oaks. Avid Golfer just released the 2023 list. Got a bit pricier at some places.

ClubCorp appears to be capitalizing on the current popularity of golf and the waitlists & sponsor requirements of member-owned clubs. Check out the monthly dues of the ClubCorp clubs relative to those of the blue bloods. Gleneagles, Stonebriar, Stonebridge Ranch, TPC Craig Ranch & Timarron - all $1000+. Prestonwood & Las Colinas at $800+. Hackberry Creek $745. Oakmont (OAKMONT!) $745.

Yeah, I feel like members at some of these Club Corp courses are basically paying for access while being stuck with many of the hassles of public golf - crowded tee sheets, slower pay, more hacks than there used to be. Not a great value proposition.

Club Corp is in the golf course business for 1 reason, $$$$$$$

They will ruin any course. I did not think they could ruin Gleneagles, but they pretty much have. No cutoff for memberships, and its packed.

They do that to every course, people everywhere!

Lot's of CC hate in here. I'm sure it varies from course to course as to crowds, pace of play, amenities, etc., but they are a business first and foremost and I don't know of any that don't charge what the market will bear.

If you don't see any value in a club, don't join or go there.

There's going to be very little true public play at PGA Frisco/Fields. Resort guests will be the majority of public play. Then Club 1916 members. Then whatever is not taken after resort and member play will be accessible to the public. Throw in a bunch of professional tournaments that reduce available tee times/course access even further.

And at $250-$350/round and limited tee times, plus caddy fees for the East course, there just won't be much general public golf happening.

I live in Houston and am not familiar with any of these clubs; if you were choosing one of the $20k initiation clubs or less which would be the best one as far as course/golf?

I've played a handful of those courses in Dallas, but for the price I think Dallas athletic club is probably the best deal on that list.

I would agree. Especially if you live on the east side of Dallas.

Those clubs listed have NO public play, except maybe Las Colinas and one other. 1916 is over priced.
I hate tu. It's in my blood.
